Sarukhan, Bey of MagnesiaSaruhan – Already redirects here. Else, it can be Saruhan Bey or something similar, because this is the only person with the name on Wikipedia if I'm not mistaken. Magnesia is only a settlement, and he and his descendants ruled a region, more than just one town. So, "Magnesia" should definitely be removed in some way. • Oppose. Per convention, any title that is lesser than that of a king is placed following the monarch's name, whether disambiguation is needed or not. For example: Henri, Grand Duke of Luxembourg. He is not a king, so his title is placed following his name. - Therealscorp1an (talk) 22:13, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
@Therealscorp1an, That is the convention for European monarchs. He was not a European monarch. See WP:NCROY, which explicitly states that it does not cover Islamic rulers. Apart from that, my point is that Magnesia is not what he exactly ruled over. "Bey" is neither a clearly-defined royal title nor is it comparable to the European understanding of such titles, especially "duke"s. Aintabli (talk) 23:41, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
Also, please see the section above, because "Bey of Magnesia" is not a WP:COMMONNAME. It existed in very old publications and was not used for Saruhan, the ruler. Aintabli (talk) 23:50, 15 March 2024 (UTC)[reply]
  • Support, the WP:COMMONNAME argument seems stronger to me. BD2412 T 17:24, 13 April 2024 (UTC)[reply]
