IATA, ICAO & Callsign[edit]

Changed to TZ now. Apparently there were some computer reservation problems with OQ being a shared code with Chongqing Airlines in China. Some res systems wouldn't accept bookings as they only recognized Chongqing. Skywayman (talk) 22:01, 14 May 2012 (UTC)[reply]

--rankings and rep-- shoudln't there be a chapter on the poor service and constant delays of scoot? its one of the worst airlines in asia, or even the world!

New Aviation[edit]

New Aviation has been listed as the parent company. To me the source suggests that New Aviation was just a temporary name until Scoot. Does anyone know anything about this please? Thanks --JetBlast (talk) 11:38, 2 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I chanced upon this on Singapore Airlines homepage. But then this could be the temp name as the tender closed in August 2011 ♠♠ BanëJ ♠ ♠ 16:44, 4 November 2011 (UTC)

Fleet Table[edit]

Why is someone creating a fleet table? The user is putting that the airline has 4 x 777-200 with an guess on how many seats they will have. The airline doesn't have any aircraft! The user is also putting the 777-200ER in the tanle and we don't have any detail on that at all, for example number on order etc. We just need to wait to see what happens regarding the fleet.

Also if we just listed the one type of aircraft doesn't justify a fleet table. --JetBlast (talk) 06:17, 6 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Who removed Tianjin from the destination list?[edit]

Okay well someone has removed Tianjin from the destination list which was under 'China' and listing its service beginning at the start of August, 2012, in the same way as the others were listed.

Instead now they removed my entry and have just written: 'The airline also announced that it plans to launch flights to Tianjin, China in August 2012.[9]'

Reason?

Hi. As explained in the edit summary on the revision history, a firm date is needed before adding the destination (see WP:AIRLINES). The new route can be mentioned in prose with a reliable source, but should not be added to the destinations list until a firm start date is announced quoting a reliable source. Thanks. Spirit of Manilla has reference to poor customer service and delays, why is it banned from this airline's page?

Fleet table[edit]

I've added a ref from Bernama. The news article is pretty explicit on the numbers. Note that the table says "in service", so it is possible for an aircraft to be stored (not flying) and still remain on the Singapore register. - Mailer Diablo 20:05, 28 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for your edit. Unfortunately a news article becomes dated very quickly and is not really a reliable source over and above an official database from the National Aviation Authority (NAA), itself a routinely updated and strictly accurate representation of aircraft registered to Scoot Private Limited on a given date. The Bernama source becomes useless, for example, as soon as Scoot's second B787-8 is delivered. The news article doesn't quote any source in it's fleet statement, indeed it seems to be potentially playing to the beat of the "Scoot PR drum" in its claim that only one B777 remains in service; at least two were operating services since 23 July (the article date) up to and including today. Regarding the "in service" total, aircraft leaving an airline will usually cease active service for a period before being de-registered / transferred, but this is a temporary situation and is quickly resolved in subsequent updates of the NAA database. Similarly every few years all aircraft undergo heavy maintenance checks requiring over a month in the hangar out of service, but we don't adjust fleet totals to reflect this in wikipedia airline articles as the aircraft remain registered to the airline throughout and available for use if required.
In summary, the official NAA aircraft register (though not without its limitations) is the most reliable and best updated source of accurate fleet information for an airline, and is the preferred reference for these reasons. Thanks. SempreVolando (talk) 15:38, 29 July 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Boeing 737-800 Transfer[edit]

The source in the article says 14 (out of 17) 737-800s will be moved from SilkAir to Scoot. However this source in the SilkAir article says all 17 will be transferred. https://blueswandaily.com/scoot-to-take-over-silkair-737-800s-is-scoot-the-new-silkair/
