Merging[edit]

I am not sure merging the articles is a good idea. There are two reasons. First, Groups still exist. Second, the various responsibilities are enshrined in international treaty and federal law and have specific meaning. --- Safemariner 01:34, 5 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Ok, I appreciate your feedback. First, what Groups are left? Aren't they Sector Field Offices now? Second, which international treaties? The way I propose the merge is to have each previous article become a section of Sector Commander. Redirects from the old article names would be forwarded to the appropriate section of Sector Commander. Of the four articles, only Captain of the Port seems to have a meaning beyond a title now held by the U.S. Coast Guard Sector Commander, and much of the text of the four articles is the same. --Pesco 00:18, 8 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Please let me know what you think of the merges. All former articles, with the exception of Captain of the Port, are now redirects to the appropriate section of Sector Commander. No more overlap across four articles. There were few articles that linked to any of the former articles; all of those links have been left intact. --Pesco 03:49, 20 June 2007 (UTC)[reply]
