Request edit[edit]

Elements of this request are out of date. Striking out for clarity.

It's been a couple of months since I posted these suggestions to this page and I would like to move forward to ensure this page accurately reflects my company. What do you suggest for moving forward with the edits I have suggested? --Kenclem (talk) 21:41, 29 May 2014 (UTC)

Hi Ken. Can you let me know which requests are stagnant that have not garnered a response? CorporateM (Talk) 22:33, 29 May 2014 (UTC)
Basically that's everything from my original set of suggestions below that is not crossed out. I greatly appreciate you and Sphilbrick making some changes, and I understand your lack of time to do it all. I would be happy to make the changes... maybe I could do one paragraph at a time (so it's not a voluminous amount of review at any one given time) and get buy-in? The changes I would make are the ones you see below. I'm just looking for the easiest way thru for all. Thanks!! --Kenclem (talk) 20:33, 30 May 2014 (UTC)
I made some of them and would encourage you to make the edits you suggested to the History section, but not the others I haven't made. The Lead (the introduction) currently defines the topic which is one of the things we look for in the Lead, but it should also summarize the article (including its history) and include why the company is notable (for software the number of users is often a good way to do this). I would like to avoid buzzwords like Enterprise 2.0 if we can find a better way to explain it. I still don't understand the product, which may be why I wrote this section so terribly. I may come back to it to see if I can get it right. CorporateM (Talk) 00:52, 31 May 2014 (UTC)

______________________________________________________ My name is Ken Clements – I work for Sitrion (formerly known as NewsGator). ken.clements [at] sitrion.com http://www.linkedin.com/in/kenclements/ In accordance with Wikipedia’s Conflict of Interest guidelines, I would like to let the community know about a couple of major changes to our business that I feel impact the page about our organization:

  1. In October 2013, NewsGator acquired a company called Sitrion [CITATIONS BELOW]
  2. In January 2014, the company chose to rename itself as Sitrion [CITATIONS BELOW]

As part of the process to suggest these changes, I’ve identified other things that could also be potentially updated. Therefore I have proposed a number of edits below. I am happy to further discuss any of these suggestions if needed. Thank you for considering these edits and for anything you can do to help reflect the current state of our organization. PAGE TITLE First, I would like to propose that this page be retitled to Sitrion (formerly NewsGator) [1] [2] SIDEBAR May I also propose the following changes to the sidebar: Change name from NewsGator Technologies to Sitrion Replace logo with this one: http://info.sitrion.com/l/30702/2014-02-27/kc6t/30702/11768/sitrion.png Industry - Remove: RSS feed reader [3] Change Founded from 2003 to 2004 [4] Key People - Replace: Mark Nass with Craig Lamborn as CFO [5] - Remove: Melissa Risteff [6] EMPLOYEES: change count to 130 WEBSITE: change URL to sitrion.com PAGE BODY

INTRODUCTION PARAGRAPH

Sitrion is a global software company headquartered in Denver, Colorado with offices in Germany, Canada, Australia and the Netherlands. Sitrion provides employee process and collaboration software that utilizes Enterprise 2.0 technologies. The Sitrion platform integrates with SAP Human Capital Management and Microsoft SharePoint. The company also offers a mobile application development platform (MADP) for building cross-platform mobile apps that integrate with a variety of enterprise systems. [7] [8]

Under the PRODUCTS section, I would like to suggest a rewrite of the first sentence to:

Sitrion was founded in 2004 as NewsGator and initially known for its RSS news aggregation software such as NetNewsWire and FeedDemon. In 2014 the company renamed itself Sitrion to represent its current technology which combines social collaboration and business process management. Forrester Research calls this "engagement workplace" technology that “combines traditional publishing and employee self-service functionality with enterprise social, document collaboration, and extended transactional capabilities wrapped with pervasive mobile access.” [9]

Suggested rewrite of the second sentence:

Rather than a standalone application or point solution, Sitrion is directly integrated with Microsoft SharePoint and/or SAP based on the customers’ needs. [10]

On the HISTORY section, I would like to propose the addition of three milestones:

  • On August 14, 2012 JB Holston becomes Chairman of the Board, and Daniel Kraft is hired as CEO & President [11]
  • On October 21, 2013, NewsGator announced the acquisition of Sitrion, previously a business partner, to add multi device portal and workflow technology for the SAP ecosystem. [12] [13]
  • On January 15, 2014, NewsGator announced that it changed its name to Sitrion. [14] [15]

The last sentence says: Customers include Edelman,[6] Merck[7] and other companies[which?]. – indicating a need for additional company names. May I suggest:

First, I want to thank-you for using the request edit option. That is what we want to happen. Unfortunately, we aren't quite as good at following through. You've identified quite a number of requests, and this is the newest of 72 requests, which means I should be working on older requests. However, I see some that can be handled easily, so I will start.

My process will be to use strike-though on those I address. If I choose not to make an edit, feel free to create a new section with the request repeated, but please read my rationale, and respond to it, rather than simply repeating the request.

I haven't addressed the other requests, I will try to return later, if no one else picks them up.--S Philbrick(Talk) 17:58, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks User:Sphilbrick! Just for context, the PR rep pinged me here regarding my "standing offer." My standing offer is that I will write the article if someone provides a complete list of high-quality sources in proper citation templates and if they can guarantee the sources are not cherry-picked. I did some of the most obvious and urgent items, but haven't gotten too deep in the article pending the PR rep's response to my cautions and warnings. CorporateM (Talk) 21:10, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

Thanks for the info. As I think you know, I am concerned about edit requests languishing. While I should work on older ones, sometimes it is nice to knock off a recent one. If you don't mind, I'll go search for some others to work on, and let you finish this one up. I hope you didn't get too many pings from me :)--S Philbrick(Talk) 21:33, 24 March 2014 (UTC)

To Do[edit]

  • Add History content from PR rep
Yes check.svg Done
  • The Product section needs a Version History: Version 1.3, date Insights was first introduced, etc. The level of appropriate detail will vary depending on the number of products involved.
Yes check.svg Done (for now) Hopefully the PR rep will let me know if I missed any major version updates
  • Needs a user interface screenshot, which can be uploaded in a copyright-protected manner as a screenshot of commercial software
Yes check.svg Done Could really use an image that will look good in a small thumbnail though CorporateM (Talk) 12:32, 1 June 2014 (UTC)
  • Add missing funding rounds
Yes check.svg Done (unless I missed some)
