Interested in Editing[edit]

Hello there! I recently reviewed this article and am interested in developing it for my semester project. I would like to include more information South Korea’s smoking history, policies and regulations, and sociocultural environment that have shaped and continue to influence tobacco use behavior. I intend to include information about the impact of novel tobacco products such as e-cigarettes and the gender difference. Furthermore, I plan on broadening the “Laws” section to include policies, regulatory schemes, and marketing.

My plan and sources I plan on drawing from are written on my user page. Please feel free to check it out, and let me know what you think about my ideas. I would appreciate suggestions or advice! Jk956 (talk) 02:50, 31 January 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Starting to draft[edit]

Hello! I have started to create a revised draft of this article in my sandbox. So far, I have written parts of the "History" and "Tobacco control" sections as well as added headings and subheadings. I have also copied the lead section from the existing Smoking in South Korea article and am considering how to best improve and expand the section. Feel free to check out what I've done so far and provide feedback! I will be updating more in the upcoming weeks. Thanks! Jk956 (talk) 22:03, 28 February 2020 (UTC)[reply]

Peer review[edit]

Article is well organized and simple language making for an easy read. The only modifications I suggest concerns the historical timeline under the “Tobacco control” section, the “Cultural environment” section, and the “Effects of smoking” section. I think it would be helpful to reformat the timeline to make it more reader friendly, either by simplifying bullet points or putting the information in a chart. As for the “Cultural environment” and “Effects of smoking” sections, I would like to see those being expanded upon more, possibly by describing the mechanisms that go into perpetuating the disparities that are described in the article and by going more into detail about how smoking prevalence in South Korea has affected the country in a variety of aspects. I think incorporating these changes would add to the breadth of the article and provide readers with a more comprehensive understanding of the topic. Overall, very informative article!
