New stub[edit]

I just made this article a sociology stub. BedrupsBaneman GMT 13:59 2005-05-30

I made an attempt to beef up this article since first was a stub that was wikified. It was later unprotected and transwikified by User:Mailer_diablo. transwikified is red listed :-)

I thought that giving social responsibility an own article was important since the special case of corporate social responsibility already had a good article.

More research[edit]

I included some more research that I did recently. Also included references. I hope that someone will go into the environmental side again! //cherryelf —Preceding unsigned comment added by Cherryelf (talkcontribs) 23:27, 23 October 2007 (UTC)

ISO 26000[edit]

I added reference to ISO 26000, a standard for facilitating social reponsibility that appears to have been under formal development since at least 2005. Their material will add depth to this article. D1doherty (talk) 13:47, 3 October 2009 (UTC)

Vandalism[edit]

There is some vandalism on this page. I don't know the subject well enough to go through it and pick it all out. --- —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.242.250.25 (talk) 17:00, 2 May 2008 (UTC)

Business social responsibility[edit]

There is already an article on business social responsibility, but this article seems to focus on that also. Shouldn't it focus more on the concept as a whole and include information on such topics as how welfare recipients also have a social responsibility to act a certain way since they're receiving public sector assistance, It seems to me that we may be giving too much weight to the social responsibility businesses bear due to the benefits they receive from the public sector. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 67.63.144.243 (talk) 15:32, 24 March 2010 (UTC)

Yes. Social responsability is not a business affaire, but lot more. Personal, politic... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 80.25.191.37 (talk) 04:31, 22 August 2010 (UTC)

IEP changes[edit]

I have added inline citations as far as possible to help improve the clarity of the article.(Sanjana21 (talk) 08:25, 29 September 2011 (UTC))

I have added a section on individual social responsibility and i will add one on corporate social responsibility as i feel the article is incomplete without the two.(Sanjana21 (talk) 19:11, 28 September 2011 (UTC))

I am adding a little more substance to this article as it has been given high importance in the Human Rights section of Wikiprojects. (Sanjana21 (talk) 10:25, 28 September 2011 (UTC))

too limited definition[edit]

definition only refers to economic responsibiity -- as if the only goal of society of men is to eat and get rich, or not be poor! — Preceding unsigned comment added by 58.69.91.113 (talk) 09:21, 20 October 2011 (UTC)

POV check[edit]

Some sentences of the article read like a sermon, for example, the sentence that says that “Social responsibility is a duty every individual or organization has to perform so as to maintain a balance between the economy and the ecosystem,” as well as about 75% of the section on “student social responsibility.” 68.55.112.31 (talk) 18:17, 3 July 2012 (UTC)

In addition, the same sentence refers to a balance between the economy and the ecosystem. The ecosystem in and of itself is not social, unless the word is used by extension. And when the word is used by extension then that ecosystem includes the economy. Hence, here we do not only have an issue of point of view but also of providing a good definition.
