todo list[edit]

Roman Przybylak subsection: to be deleted?[edit]

This subsection doesn't use complete sentences and is almost inintellegible. The reference is not well formatted. The reference is to an article that Prysbylak himself published on academia, which has not been peer reviewed or published in another medium; it seems like gibberish pseudo-science, but I'm not a sociologist so I can't determine if this is the case. Roman Przybylak doesn't seem to be a prolific sociologist, he doesn't seem to have any other publications, he certainly doesn't have the same impact as other authors mentioned in this section.

images which could be used[edit]

Dragon Realms info is completely wrong[edit]

I'm not sure what the policy is for this (I don't really edit wikipedia, just followed a link here) but almost everything mentioned in the DR section is completely wrong. Should I just remove that section? 64.245.107.130 (talk) 02:49, 6 April 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Missing References[edit]

I see that the introduction section of the article "The first who formulated a systematic theory of social systems was Talcott Parsons where it was a part of his AGIL paradigm yet the social system is only a segment (or a "subsystem") of what Parsons calls action theory; however, Vilfredo Pareto had used the term "social system" earlier but only as a sketch and not as an overall analytical scheme in the sense of Parsons." needs references .

I will now find the reference about Talcott Parsons (figure)

this link to the book <Parsons, T. (1951). The social system. New York: Free Press.>

http://babel.hathitrust.org/cgi/pt?id=uc1.b3968935;view=1up;seq=38 Parsons introduces action theory on page 18 of his book <Parsons, T. (1951). The social system. New York: Free Press.>

I agree with your opinion that need to find and add the reference about Talcott Parsons .I read the book <Parsons, T. (1951) related pages,i think that's related to "action theory" what have been mentioned in this article.great reference!

I read the paragraph"Approaches of Parsons and Luhmann" of the article:" while Niklas Luhmann considers communication processes which constitute a social system."need a reference. I am trying to find it,hope you can help me to check whether the reference i find is right.

The link is to the download of the book <Brunczel, Balázs.(2010). Disillusioning modernity: Niklas Luhmann's social and political theory. New York : Peter Lang.>

http://pittcat.pitt.edu/cgi-bin/Pwebrecon.cgi?BBID=6365726

According to the summary ,i guess this book can be related reference.

We can add this reference:

^Brunczel, Balázs.(2010). Disillusioning modernity: Niklas Luhmann's social and political theory. New York : Peter Lang.

Kimiyu01 (talk) 22:48, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Hi ,guy,i find a new problem, obviously, this article is not well written and the section 2.1 Dragon Realms seems to have bias. The introduction on Dragon Realms the author gives can not persuade readers very well. I’m planning to add some content about Dragon Realms which can‘verifiable with no original research’ ,but i’m not sure where can i find the right definition and introduction about the Dragon Realms,Adding relevant contents seem to be a hard job,i have no idea.

Kimiyu01 (talk) 22:55, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Here’s Dragon Realms’s official website, there’s introduction about Dragon Realms.hope it can be useful! Link: http://www.play.net/dr/

Mayssoun saleh (talk) 23:01, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks guy ,that’s useful.I will add this section to the article:‘DragonRealms is a high fantasy roleplaying game that features a vast and detailed world to explore, amazing creatures to meet and fight, and a wide variety of professions and races to build your character from!’ this citation is from the website about Dragon Realms, thus we need to add this to the reference.

Kimiyu01 (talk) 23:06, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

OK, will add the website as Dragon Realms’s reference Link:Dragon Realms http://www.play.net/dr/

Mayssoun saleh (talk) 23:11, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Well,It seems that we have finished our improvement plan. In order to make others read our talk easily,we can summary our plan of improvement.i will address what i have done with your help. 1.According to the criteria of ‘verifiable with no original research’,I find that the article doesn’t contain a list of all reference,so we need to add the related references.

Here's references added:

1.Parsons, T. (1951). The social system. New York: Free Press.

2.Brunczel, Balázs.(2010). Disillusioning modernity: Niklas Luhmann's social and political theory. New York : Peter Lang.

3. EverQuest Overview: https://www.everquest.com/game-overview

4. WoW Game guide: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/game/

5. Second life Guide:http://secondlife.com/whatis/?lang=en-US

6. Ultima Online: http://www.uo.com/

7. Dragon Realms http://www.play.net/dr/

Add some missing external Links:

4.World of Warcraft (WoW) official website: http://us.battle.net/wow/en/

5.Second life official website :http://secondlife.com/

Mayssoun saleh (talk) 23:22, 16 October 2013 (UTC)[reply]

Then,i will summary other improvement i did with Mayssou's help.

Add missing images:

According to the good article criteria 'illustrated ,if possible ,by images’,the whole article doesn’t have any images,I add the images which are relevant to the topic .

1.image for Dragon Realms

2. image for Ultima Online (UO)

3. image for EverQuest

4. image for World of Warcraft (WoW)

5.image for Second Life

Add External Links:

1.Dragon realms official website http://www.play.net/dr/

2. Ultima Online : http://www.uo.com/

3. Ever Quest: https://www.everquest.com/

Add Missing content:

This article is not well written and the section 2.1 Dragon Realms seems to have bias. The introduction on Dragon Realms the author gives can not persuade readers very well.I added content about Dragon based on the criteria ‘verifiable with no original research’.

'Dragon Realms is a high fantasy roleplaying game that features a vast and detailed world to explore, amazing creatures to meet and fight, and a wide variety of professions and races to build your character from!’can be added to the part of Dragon Realms.

Article cohesion[edit]

A strange article, lacking cohesion. A mash-up of two stub articles: one on Parsonian social systems, the other on digital/ online social 'systems'. Solution? Break into two stubs? Delete? Thanks, DA Sonnenfeld (talk) 09:28, 23 September 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Why is this page still alive?[edit]

Why is this page a thing? The page on Social Structure is well written and covers everything that would be covered on this page. Wikipedia User 1 (talk) 02:46, 30 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Excellent question. Came here to ask the same thing. This links from 'social systems' link on Social Structure page but does not describe social systems as a parent system to social structures at all. Needs complete overhaul IMHO... 1.43.141.41 (talk) 07:57, 10 January 2024 (UTC)[reply]
