NPOV[edit]

I did some work on this, but it still needs major NPOV improvements. It sounds like it was written by the organization itself, to pronounce their greatness. There's a lot of unncessary information which serves to puff them up as well. It's not apporpriate to include parenthetical statements about each person and organization in order to make them sound better; it's only apporpriate for clarification, such as in the case of a fandom-specific term or difficult scientific term. I've removed some of it to improve the neutrality of this article, but it still needs attention. Not to mention that none of this is cited TheBilly (talk) 21:12, 21 December 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Unnecessary information? Oh no ! Each info counts. (E.g. Some of these institutions participate in various state programs. In Belgique, e.g. Participate in a secret state program for the secret treatment of populations with powerful medicines. Medicines are given for children and women (free!). Aderen medicines to free-running suitors (in the hope, also free). For the purpose of charity. So with some of the employees this catholic - eggumenist organization will also get additional funding, privileges, ...KarovaNr2KarovaNr2 (talk) 14:36, 25 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Added NPOV template. The organisation has been involved in a number of controversies and deaths internationally, NONE of which are mentioned in the supposed history which reads like a promotional tract for the org. It is a company and this is NOT an ad. Introduction also presents claimed aims as fact. DO NOT REMOVE NPOV TEMPLATE unless the negatives of the org are represented equally as required, no matter how much you like r think you are an expert. Would do but iim arthritic and it requires a total rewrite for NPOV with proper sources Mycosys (talk) 01:07, 5 May 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Please give a reference for your "number of deaths" in which "the organization" has been involved. This is a very serious and sweeping accusation, and should be investigated if it has any basis. If SVP does breed an attitude of carelessness about danger to human life then there should be in the article references to detailed accounts of the incidents and the responsibility that SVDP volunteers or employees had for these incidents. Goiana Incident[edit]

From reading the page Goiânia_accident#Hospital_abandonment I get the impression SVDP ws largely responsible for one of the worst radiation accidents in history (yes, that's sorta bizarre). I don't know enough about the Goiana accident and SVDP to write anything, but it'd be cool if somebody would.

Reading the Goiana article, it sounds like, whatever the merits of their legal dispute with IGR, they had a moral duty not to leave a radioactive source in an abandoned building. Anniepoo (talk) 05:58, 8 June 2015 (UTC)[reply]

You're speaking about one of the most serious incidents of radiation contamination of all time. After checking the reports on the web, all we learn about SVDP is that it owned the building. No one at SVDP is identified as having been callous or negligent about the danger, and there is no mention that the doctors who worked there were employed by SVDP. It was an extremely unfortunate incident, with many people guilty of ignorance all along the way, but to incriminate the local Council (if there was one) or much less the international SVDP movement as if they would ever knowingly tolerate this sort of carelessness would, from all we know, be a very rash judgment. Have we read the same article ? Because what I've understood from it is that SVDP, acting as rentier, used some kind of nepotism / non-legal authority over local government authorities, so latter acted as SVDP's personal bouncers. Then, when clinic & hardware owners complained to government's nuclear regulation agency, hardware owners were ignored until corpses started to pile up, with a little girl getting the worst of it (whose funerals turned into a sham by same people who allowed the radioactive materials to be paraded around town in the first place by criminal salvagers and incompetent local authorities) and main culprits surviving, which all were exacerbated by incompetence of local hospital that left people undiagnosed and untreated until panic already began. In the end, SVDP and local authorities got scot-free while lamenting that law at the time did not allow putting all blame unto hardware owners, who tried to prevent that from the beginning and warned every responsible party in the first place. Huge organization[edit]

One only needs to read the audited annual financial report for the USA to realize what a huge operation this is. Over $6.4 million in funds dispersed from the national council alone in 2014, besides the local help extended to some 4,400 local communities from Parish collections.
