"Splintering"[edit]

In warfare, would splintering be the same thing as spalling? Because in the 18th Century, when the Wooden Hull of a Warship was hit by Solid Shot, the damage creates a jet of splinters which can cause injury, infection, and death. --Arima (talk) 19:21, 1 October 2008 (UTC)
