Moluccas and Formosa[edit]

In the early period of Spanish colonization in the Philippines, Spanish outposts in the Moluccas and Formosa (Taiwan) were governed from Manila. I assume that would qualify them as part of the Spanish East Indies. If so, they should be mentioned in the article.

Spratlys and Scarborough[edit]

It can be seen in this file map" Spanish Provinces in the Pacific.jpg that the Scarborough Shoal and a part of the Spratlys are within the territorial limits of Spanish East Indies. Hope somebody can try to dig the archives for the Spratlys and incorporate the info in this article or to the related articles on the Spratlys. Jordz (talk) 08:42, 17 March 2009 (UTC)

Relevance of information about current date[edit]

Since the Spanish East Indies ceased to exist is 1898, I fail to see the relevance of including information about current date. For instance the "today" flags recently added to the infobox. And the final paragraph is fairly irrelevant too. John of Cromer in China Philippines (talk) mytime= Sat 20:08, wikitime= 12:08, 2 February 2013 (UTC)
