Untitled[edit]

This article is incorrect in one area: St. Francis Prep moved to the Fresh Meadows location of what had been Bisop Reilly High School, which was a co-ed institution, not an all girls school.

Class size average[edit]

It says 40 but there's no way that's the average. 40 is the MOST amount of kids in a class. AP's for example have been as low as 5 (art), 8 (calc), etc. Does the school have an actual statistic for this? 7/23/12 — Preceding unsigned comment added by 77.43.66.13 (talk) 16:07, 23 July 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Notable alumni[edit]

Would love to see years they graduated as well. RahadyanS 23:56, 13 March 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I wanted to add Gastor Almonte, stand-up comedian, but I do not have the necessary skills/knowledge. Can someone do it for me?? Thanks https://www.linkedin.com/in/gastoralmonte/ Education - St. Francis Preparatory School BlancheX — Preceding undated comment added 02:09, 14 May 2023 (UTC)[reply]

messy[edit]

Article needs to be totally organized. I attempted to do it but I don't think I helped. -doodoobutter 00:53, 18 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

!!!!-I just started to edit it but its still eh-ish. I need some more info about the sports teams and awards maybe, to put under Athletics. Maybe we should also add an 'Academics' section and talk about the classes, APs, electives, art and music programs, etc

Everything you plan to put in needs to be cited. And I don't think every sports team needs to be listed. I just recently removed something that was unencyclopedic, but marked it as NPOV. I'm currently working on an image, but the best one I have has a car in it. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 01:27, 9 February 2009 (UTC)[reply]

WikiProject class rating[edit]

This article was automatically assessed because at least one WikiProject had rated the article as start, and the rating on other projects was brought up to start class. BetacommandBot 10:37, 10 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Clean-up[edit]

This page needs a clean-up. References, images, expansion, for a start. There are few Featured Article models, but there are some. Three actually, Stuyvesant High School, Plano Senior High School, and Baltimore City College. Good school articles can be found here and there is one A class, Lethbridge Collegiate Institute. Any help is welcome. ~Itzjustdrama C ? 22:53, 6 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Remark:[edit]

Hello, I am new Wikipedia editor,I was found some complain on Internet regarding this school, So here i just mention it.Please clarify it.

Remark[edit]

In 2013, the school and various administrators were named as defendants in several lawsuits. The first of these was filed by former teacher Marla Krolikowski, formerly Mark Krolikowski, who alleged he had been wrongfully terminated from employment at the school because she is transgender[1].

Two lawsuits were filed by former students Mark Evangelista and Felicia Mooradian alleging abuse and sexual harassment by different teachers at the school[2].

Lawsuits and allegations of impropriety[edit]

There are an awful lot of controversies and law suits against this school, all of which have been reported in the press, none of which are included in the Wiki article. And when I look at the history of the article, any mentions of these events have been repeatedly removed. Why are these not worthy of inclusion? It certainly seems more notable than the listing of famous graduates.

A 2013 lawsuit was brought against the school regarding a teacher named Brother Benjamin O'Reilly.[3]
Another suit from 2013, this one against teacher Robert Stenger.[4]
Also in 2013, former teacher Mark/Marla Krolikowski filed suit and won against the school for wrongful termination.[5]
2014 allegations were made against a teacher named Brother Dominic Quigley.[6]
And just today, I came across this new news story about horrific allegations against teacher Rodney Alejandro dating back in the 1990s.[7]

I pulled these up in just five minutes so I would assume that there are many more. What's going on here?

I also now see that the last person to remove mention of these legal issues from the page, did so anonymously and has had their IP banned. I'm not much of a conspiracy theorist, but this further upholds my belief that these events need to be included in the school's entry. Uncle Cheech (talk) 11:16, 12 May 2016 (UTC)[reply]

This information should absolutely be in the article. I say this because when you look at recent cases of sexual misconduct (such as Roy Moore and Harvey Weinstein), you see the issue mentioned on their respective wikipedia pages. I must say wikipedia has done well ensuring these issues are mentioned on various pages for politicians, journalists, celebrities and businesspeople. With all the sources listed above, there is more than enough information available in regard to sexual misconduct at this school. This is just my two cents, but this should be included. --FriendlyGuyFromCA (talk) 20:28, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

None of this stuff can be included and to mention names of people accused but not convicted is a BLP violation, even on the talk page and shouldn't be done. What people who attend or work at a school do is not about the school. John from Idegon (talk) 22:19, 25 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Requested edit[edit]

I am in fact a member of the "historic" first co-ed graduating class of St. Francis Prep, and cannot figure out how to edit the article's reference to Prep's predecessor school (Bishop Reilly). I'm hoping a member of the Wikipedia team can edit the article as follows:

Section on History references Bishop Reilly High School as having been co-educational, when the school was actually what is known as co-INSTITUTIONAL. There was a girls school on one wing, and boys side on the other (girls on the West, boys on the East), and we ONLY comingled at lunch in the co-ed cafeteria. There were NO co-ed classes. Clubs and certain other extracurricular activities were quite co-ed.

Therefore, please edit the reference to Bishop Reilly to describe it as "co-institutional".

Finally, the title of the article should reference Prep as "St. Francis Preparatory HIGH SCHOOL". It is NOT "St. Francis Preparatory School".

My thanks for whatever attention you'll pay to this edit request!!
