Popular Culture[edit]

I Think there should be a section about the incident in popular culture as I remember seeing it on a few television sitcoms, most notably family guy where they imply Stewie convinced Steve Bartman to do it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 78.105.206.251 (talk) 19:23, 4 September 2009 (UTC)[reply]

2012 NLCS Comparison[edit]

I added this piece by Glanville because he talks about why he thinks it was unfair to blame Bartman. This was in the section that defends Bartman and criticizes the people who blame him. I don't see why it shouldn't be included. Arnabdas (talk) 17:51, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Actually, I might have been a bit hasty, especially since Glanville himself was on that Cubs team. I did reword some things, to empashize the point I think you wanted to make. Zagalejo^^^ 18:26, 25 October 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Section 2 Does Not Exist[edit]

The Bartman Seat is listed as Section 2, Row 8, Seat 108. However, there is no section 2 (or 1 for that matter) at Wrigley Field. This is the current alignment. Is it possible someone meant to write section 102 or section 3? — Preceding unsigned comment added by 172.72.192.192 (talk) 15:52, 30 June 2021 (UTC)[reply]

Question about summary[edit]

Why does the summary state that "several spectators attempted to catch" the foul ball? There is no other part of this article that supports such a statement. The picture used refutes such a claim entirely, showing no one other than Bartman and Alou attempting to catch the ball. Indeed, there are several spectators in the photo who appear to be specifically trying not to catch the ball, shying away for possible fear of interfering with the play.

I recommend that this statement be edited. — Preceding unsigned comment added by BigJackMan (talkcontribs) 19:43, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]

I've removed "several spectators attempted to catch". Meatsgains (talk) 21:27, 29 October 2016 (UTC)[reply]
Footage of the incident clearly shows at least one other spectator (the man in the light grey sweater at the left of the photo) also reaching out for the ball. He withdrew his arms a split second before that photo was taken.--Muzilon (talk) 01:55, 17 January 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Pat Looney[edit]

2 fans reached for the ball, not just Bartman. There are a number of articles/interviews with the man in the gray sweater named Pat Looney who reached for the ball right next to & in front of Bartman, but Bartman was closer by less than a foot as it sailed just beyond Looney's reach. They were the only two reaching for it beside Alou and there are plenty of slo-mo YouTube videos confirming this. Looney is shown in full extension until the ball hit Bartman's hands and never withdrew them. This could have just as easily been a Pat Looney article if not for luck of the draw. Why isn't Pat Looney mentioned in this article? PhilOSophocle (talk) 17:22, 11 May 2018 (UTC)[reply]
