Argosy[edit]

In the History section it says that SAS used Amstrong Whitworth Argosys from Arlanda in 1960. Surely that can't be right? — Preceding unsigned comment added by Helge Risvand (talkcontribs) 22:01, 9 April 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Suggestion[edit]

Wouldn't it be more interesting for the readers to list destinations, not only airline companies ? After all most readers are travellers at least occasionally, and then they interest themselves more about where they travel than with which airline.BIL 16:38, 3 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Failed GA[edit]

I have failed this GA nomination due to the following concerns:

  • The article does not follow the Manual of Style, in particular:
  • it contains stub sections like the Space Shuttle emergency landing facility. This section should definitely be expanded, or merged into another section.

Who changes picture size[edit]

Someone is messing with picture size on the page. The current size of the overview of Arlanda fits well with page and text. However someone changes the size to extremely small. Pretty annoying since making it smaller fits no purpose other than makes the page look bad. Now that we have excellent pictures on this page, lets keep it that way. Picture size is changed back now. United / Continental merger[edit]

Two edits have been done taking away United Airlines as operator at the airport. However Continental and United have agreed to merge.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Continental-United_Airlines_Merger

http://www.unitedcontinentalholdings.com/

HkCaGU and Snoozelepet fail to read references and makes revisions in error. Could someone take away their revisions since the merger between Continental and United has taken place even if some operations within United still carry Continentals name. — Preceding unsigned comment added by Brorsson (talkcontribs) 20:22, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Our edits are not in error, and are indeed the correct following a long-time consensus by Wikiproject participants at WP:AVIATION, WP:AIRPORT and WP:AIRLINE. Merger is a long process and different changes (aircraft livery, crew, reservation system, airport counter branding, corporate structure, operating certificate, frequent flier benefits, lounges, etc.) occur at different times spanning many months. The main Wikiproject criteria are mainly operator certificate and call signs. These have not happened yet. HkCaGu (talk) 21:37, 2 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]
And the references you have provided states that both holding companies have merged NOT the airlines itself. Although United and Continental are now owned by the same company, they will continue to operate seperately until integration is completed. When both airlines achieve a single operating certificate (by mid-2012), we can then change all Continental listings to United. Snoozlepet (talk) 05:11, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Now that you have explained your criteria that the Air Operators Certificates still are separate I accepts why you did the changes of my entries. However my entries were self explanatory and reflected the status as it is so I think they could have remained. But anyway you have explained you actions. I do not agree completely but I understand your view. There are airlines around with multiple AOC:s but they still act as one airline. Hope you see that I try to reflect facts as they are closely. Brorsson (talk) 07:00, 3 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

I have made a hidden note at the bottom of the table. Some planes that operate in and out of Arlanda may carry the United or Continental name. But the flights are still operated by and marketed as Continental with a CO code (there is a UA code but that it a codeshare). Wait until everything is finalized and flights are beginning to market as "United" then we can make the change. If you have any further diagreements with the CO/UA merger, I would discuss them at the Continental, United, or WP:AIRPORTS/WP:AIRLINES talk pages. 71.91.73.4 (talk) 02:21, 4 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

And also, the airport's official website does not even list United as a airline operating at the airport (only Continental is listed) and that is airline actually operating the flights out of the airport. 71.91.73.4 (talk) 21:03, 18 June 2011 (UTC) Just like to point out that since this discussion started all planes operating at Stockholm Arlanda on the daily CO 68/69 carry United schemes. Brorsson (talk) 08:08, 19 June 2011 (UTC) The airports official website and database are known for being late in their updates. Brorsson (talk) 08:14, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Airplane callsigns are United, departure and arrivals boards are United. Last Continental flight operated yesterday. A It is time to put up United here. Brorsson (talk) 19:24, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Sorry but just like one-stop direct destinations and city names, we cannot simply rely on each individual airport to decide whether Continental still exists. There are plenty of airports where both airlines serve where the two brands are still separated by terminals. We need that consistency between articles. Please see the section below for the discussion in progress. HkCaGu (talk) 19:47, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Someone takes away airlines from hub headline[edit]

Someone took away Novair, Primera Air and Thomas Cook Scandinavia from under the hub headline. I put back Novair since it is based at the airport and has its headoffice in Stockholm. Thomas Cook Scandinavia has a hub at Arlanda so I put it back. Primera has at least two airplanes and crews based at Arlanda even if the airline now is registered in Denmark. I put them back again.

Even if Thomas Cook Scandinavia and Primera are foreign carriers, they have bases with planes and crews at Arlanda, so please do not take them away again.

It is a bit annoying that someone edits this section without appropriate knowledge. Brorsson (talk) 11:27, 17 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

A hub is not equal to a base. According to those airlines' articles, they have no hubs. The airport infobox's "hub" field was designed to serve as a cross-reference purpose. Whether it is a hub or a base needs to be discussed in those articles' talk pages. HkCaGu (talk) 00:21, 18 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Novair is based at Stockholm Arlanda Airport and operates a number of routes out of Stockholm Arlanda to form a hub and spoke route system. The other airlines we are talking about have hub and spoke route systems also at Arlanda. I have made some changes in Novairs and Thomas Cook Scandinavias articles that I think reflect their operations. If others want to do corrections in Primera and Thomas Cook Scandinavias articles to correctly reflect operations at Arlanda it would be nice. Brorsson (talk) 07:37, 19 June 2011 (UTC)[reply]

United and Continental[edit]

There is a discussion started at Wikipedia_talk:WikiProject_Airports#CO.2FUA_SOC_2011-11-30. Please discuss your thoughts on that page until a consensus is reached on how to list them. Thanks! Snoozlepet (talk) 18:01, 1 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Maximum passenger capacity[edit]

No Destination maps?[edit]

Any reason for removing the destinations maps?81.229.44.57 (talk) 19:04, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]

It has been discussed ad nauseum at WT:AIRPORT, especially the type of maps you added was the most universally hated. HkCaGu (talk) 19:22, 11 September 2015 (UTC)[reply]
