Curses, can anyone capitalize the H in hat for me?

If you mean in the article name, unless the name is proper (which it isn't) then no - don't capitalize it. →Raul654 04:36, Mar 26, 2004 (UTC)
Why do you want to do that and where? The title of the article should be "Straw hat" under Wikipedia guidelines and, since it's not a proper noun, it should be referred to as a "straw hat" in all other references. I can't imagine an instance where the h in hat would need to be capitalized in the phrase "straw hat." Moncrief 04:36, Mar 26, 2004 (UTC)

A straw hat is not a proper noun. However, I'm pretty sure I need to use consistant tense, and I've gotten a blank article several times by requesting "Straw Hat." I do not know how to rename articles names. --FB (Posting without logging in)

The article is a fine start, and its listed in the right place. Trust me - don't move it. →Raul654 04:57, Mar 26, 2004 (UTC)

I know it's a few months after, but I made Straw Hat redirect to Straw hat. I realize that straw hat isn't a proper noun, but lots of people, myself included many times, tend to capitalize more than we're supposed to. Just to clear up some confusion I went ahead and did it. If anyone has a problem just say so here or on my talk page.Gorovich 05:03, 27 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I restored an older version of this page, since someone decided to mess it up (you can check the version prior to my restoration to see what I mean).

Straw hat riots[edit]

Dan Lewis from Did You Know has a great blog post with good sources on the Straw Hat Riots. I think this fact is notable and should be added to this article, but I don't have time right now. --Slashme (talk) 11:37, 20 September 2012 (UTC)[reply]

There's Other Types Of Straw Hats[edit]

For an example, straw cowboy hats, despite how HIDEOUS, AND RIDICULOUS they are, are more common, and popular than REAL cowboy hats. (I imagine they cost less for why. Because they're god awful ugly, so I fail to see why anyone would prefer them if they aren't cheaper.) They're very popular among your cliche idiotic, slutty, cliche college age drunk who just gets into country music stuff to party. (The sorts who have ruined Country Thunder entirely, turning it from a fun family event to a load of retards who don't care about the music, just screwing around in numerous meanings of the expression. (They've made such events no longer safe for either children, or small adults, because they're all tall, and don't pay attention, so squish, run over, bump into, etc. smaller adults.)) Regardless of the people wearing them being trash, though, this is still a highly common hat that should be given mention (obviously leaving out any remarks on the typical wearer). — Preceding unsigned comment added by 97.117.170.252 (talk) 23:23, 1 February 2014 (UTC)[reply]

Straw hats in England[edit]

There is no mention in the current article of the straw hat making industry in Luton, Bedfordshire, England. This was one of the large industries of the town and lasted from the mid 19th century until (probably) World War II. Straw hat making was the final manufacturing process which started with straw-plaiting, a home industry which yielded a second much-needed source of income for agricultural labourers and their families in a broad area covering several counties surrounding Bedfordshire. The Luton article refers only to hat-making, but hats made in Luton were only those made of straw. --Oldontarian (talk) 10:43, 9 January 2017 (UTC)[reply]
