The creature of the pit[edit]

At 1;19;05 the doctor looks into the pit(he has found a secret door and entered the underground chamber with Ward's wife) and is appalled by the creature he sees.The creature is seen through the grills but it seems like a lump of flesh.Has anyone discerned if its a deformed human or something else?21:30, 19 April 2008 (UTC)

Copy edit[edit]

I performed a copy edit on this article. I trimmed the plot summary considerably to conform more closely with WP:PLOTSUM. The article is very heavily weighted toward the plot summary even so, which is not a good thing; it really needs to be expanded with more information about the film, rather than information regarding what the film is about. // ⌘macwhiz (talk) 00:39, 25 September 2010 (UTC)[reply]

originally intended by corman to be released as an H.P. Lovecraft film[edit]

As I recall from the 1960s, Arkham House sold movie rights to four Lovecraftian properties (Lovecraft's Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Colour out of Space and The Dunwich Horror, and August Derleth's The Shuttered Room) using the funds to bankroll the re-issue of Lovecraft's fiction in three volumes: The Dunwich Horror, At the Mountains of Madness and Dagon. Corman intended the first film be released as the Case of Charles Dexter Ward, but the studio retitled it in the credits Edgar Allen Poe's The Haunted Palace (a typo that is an accidental Allen Smithee-type credit). --Naaman Brown (talk) 02:03, 9 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
