The article is a copy of Mahan's book contents[edit]

This so called "article" is an exact copy of the Contents of Mahan's book: The Influence of Sea Power upon History, 1660-1783. Binot 17:07, 20 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I think this article should be merged with Alfred Thayer Mahan or even deleted entirely. The book is an important one, but it doesn't merit a separate article. As it stands, this page is little more than a table of contents, it hasn't been tidied in six months, it isn't useful and breaches the rules of Wikipedia:What Wikipedia is not. Temp. Page[edit]

I have just created a temporary article for this page. From what I have seen, most of the copywritten was already deleted. I deleted some more, and added new information, so the temporay page has not been started from scratch. Other than the first sentence, which is inherently similar, I believe that the temporary page does not violate any copywrites. If anyone sees any vestiges of the copywrite, please remove it. Wikisource[edit]

Upon talking with Wiki Help Desk, the wikisource template has been moved further to the top in reference to WP:MOSSIS that allows for wikisource templates to be placed at the right of TOCs, etc.

This is in a move to better display the fact there is a free copy of the original text and ensure people are better aware of this, as placing at the bottom may result in this being lost due to scrolling fatigue. Jamzze (talk) 10:41, 17 January 2021 (UTC)[reply]

First published in 1890?[edit]

There is a French translation in 1889, and Cambridge University Press edition, among other sources(such as WorldCat.org), claims it's first published in 1889. Happyseeu (talk) 16:23, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]

After reading a bibliography of Mahan and history of publication, I've concluded that the French edition couldn't have been published in 1889, as Mahan wrote the preface in English dated Dec. 1889. The date referenced is a typo for the French edition that should be "1899". --Happyseeu (talk) 23:52, 5 October 2022 (UTC)[reply]
