Filling out Coverage[edit]

I've built an episode list, an infobox and the pilot episode's article. Please help LaVieEntiere (talk) 07:44, 12 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Beth's "Tumor"[edit]

I have always thought it was a dildo, which got stuck in her head in utero. It kinda fits her mom's rather... "sexual" outlook. Reading this page is actually the first time I have heard of anyone thinking it was anything else! —Preceding unsigned comment added by 133.62.137.100 (talk) 05:14, 23 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Re: Biff and Chip[edit]

Where does it say that Biff is gay and that Chip is straight?

The show never says that Biff is gay and that Chip is straight, but it's somewhat implied like Smithers in The Simpsons, but Biff's sexuality is never confirmed. I think that part of the article should be removed.

(Darquefaerie 07:33, 14 January 2006 (UTC))[reply]

It's a running gag like it is wherein which they imply there's something "more" betwixt Lenny and Carl's friendship in The Simpsons. More to the point, it's just a cartoon. DrWho42 17:14, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Biff is gay / Chip is not gay running gags include lines like this:

  • Biff Oblong: Coach always says, "Heart, obedience, motivation, oppurtunity, H.O.M.O.
  • Beth Oblong: That spells Homo.
  • Chip Oblong: You don't know how to spell.

...[edit]

"The Oblongs are portrayed as a generally happy family and usually display good values." - Is this a joke? -Silence 21:21, 21 January 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Uhh, no? Why would it be? --Antoshi~! T | C 14:05, 4 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pickles certainly doesn't have good values. Politician818 02:08, 12 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Pickles absolutely has good values. She does all sorts of things for her family, and is not a bad mother. Smoking, drinking, and sexing up the place do not equal bad values. Search4Lancer 02:01, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Lancer, in your opinion, they don't. In my opinion, they do. Not the sexing up, though. She only has sex with her husband, and there's nothing wrong with that. But the constant drinking goes against traditional values. Since the term "values" is entirely subjective, I made a compromise. I said that the Oblongs have better values than the Hill people. I think that it's arrogant for "free spirited" people to say that traditionalists can't dictate what "good values" are, yet they can. Politician818 02:31, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
You have no right to say any such thing about me. Somebody needs to take you down a few notches. Search4Lancer 17:44, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually he does have the right to say anything he wants about you, but that's different matter. Rsm99833 17:58, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Actually, he doesn't. This isn't America, this is Wikipedia, and we have rules here against personal attacks. Maybe you should read up on them. Search4Lancer 23:22, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Well, I'm looking over the talk page, and I'm not seeing any obvious personal attacks. Could you state or direct what you feel are personal attacks?Rsm99833 00:06, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The Mayor[edit]

I have noticed that the character called Johnny "The Mayor" Bledsoe is missing in the latter episodes, and at the start of the series HE is the father of the Debbies, while later when he vanishes, Mr. Climer is their father. What's the deal with this? It's not mentioned in the article either.

The Debbies aren't related. They're just all exactly the same. They have different parents. The Mayor is one. Mr. Climer is another.

Hmm...and they say that the valley is the place with all the polluted mutations? Well thanks for clearing that up. It was quite confusing.

Hey, that's interesting.[edit]

Were Biff and Chip conjoined in the womb? Because aren't conjoined twins always identical? Are Biff and Chip identical, cause don't they have different colored hair? If they're identical, then I guess that a message of the show is that you aren't born gay. Cause if people are born gay, then both twins would have to be gay. LOLPolitician818 22:35, 13 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

1. You're reading too much into the show. It's a goddamn cartoon... 2. The gay comment is the stupidest thing I've ever heard. Neither of them is gay (RTFA), so there was no reason for it. And even so, if one of them was gay, I severely doubt that that would be a 'message of the show.' Once again, reading too much into it. Search4Lancer 01:53, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

You're not too bright. It's obvious that I was being somewhat tongue in cheek. How about I write LOL after a tongue in cheek comment then, so you can get it? Also, Biff is gay or at least unsure of his sexual "orientation." His diary reveals him obsessing about his coach while they're naked in a bathtub or spa together. Maybe they got conjoined for different reasons, as in that weird Family Guy episode where Cleveland and Quagmire got conjoined. Politician818 02:37, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lance, using bad grammar and signing with a pentagram don't make you cool. Politician818 17:40, 14 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Politician818, personal attacks don't make you cool, either. Search4Lancer 17:41, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lance, being a cunt makes you a cunt.

o-o umm identical twins aren't completely identical. Things like their finger prints are different. You can have identical twins were one is gay and the other isn't >> And like the other people said (rather rudely) It is just aT.V. show.

fingerprints are diffrent.

---

fingerprints being different on identical twins has nothing to do with DNA. their fingerprints may be different, but their DNA is the same. if the whole "homosexuality being hereditary" theory is true, they would both have the same sexual orientation. this is, however, considering they are in fact identical twins. twins become conjoined when identical twins stop splitting somewhere in the middle, and so (in real life, at least) all conjoined twins must be of identical DNA. the oblongs are known for being either physically or mentally (or both) retarded or just fucking deformed. simply being conjoined twins doesnt seem "retarded" enough for a mature-audience show, so they were made to have different hair colors (not identical). this is what makes them "weird". make sense?

17 vs. 14 Episodes[edit]

Which is the correct number..? In the Infobox it states 17, whereas the episode listing downbelow therefrom the Adult Swim website lists 14. DrWho42 17:18, 21 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Episode List[edit]

I'd love to help anyone expand on the episodes. I can provide screenshots, quotes, things of that nature. Leave a message on my Talk page if you're interested. Mitch 06:02, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Headline text[edit]

13 original episodes According to Angus Oblong's site (he's the creator of the series), there were only 13 episodes. This is repeated on several other sites.

and they are repeated at nausea Kyros 06:16, 10 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Oblongs Episodes and Deleting of False Rumor[edit]

There are 13 episodes according to my Oblongs DVD Box Set :D

I am also deleting the rumor about Oblongs Coming back.

In 2006, Casanova Shamdil announced that he will be bringing back The Oblongs with his independent production company, Creepy productions.

Cassanova Shamdil gets 4 google results.

Tinkleheimer 09:29, 1 December 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I have read an online article, saying that soon adult swim has ordered new oblongs episodes. Angus Oblong replied saying that the cast might not have all the original voices.http://www.laweekly.com/2009-04-23/la-vida/la-people-2009-angus-oblong-this-clown-39-s-life/ 11:08 Thurs, July 16 2009 —Preceding unsigned comment added by Roomba23 (talkcontribs) 04:08, 17 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Peggy Weggy's Parents[edit]

I don't think that it is implied Peggy's parents are two homosexual men; instead their deformity/disability is being androgynous or possibly even hermamphrodites. I even think there's a joke about this in the Parents Night epidsode.

-- Yeah I was just watching it, and I think the joke is that you can't tell if it's two men, or a feminine man and a butch woman. Alexcicio (talk) 06:06, 26 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Pull off an Australian airing[edit]

As I recall the first prime time airing was advertised as a double episode with only one being aired (the second episode's synopsis fits what we received in Adelaide with a station voice over rather than opening credits). The rumour it was pulled off mid episode (which it may have been in other regions) is credible as the station had a history of taking off or playing whatever its owner decided, schedules b'damned. MartinSFSA (talk) 19:12, 1 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I can't speak for Adelaide but in Sydney I definitely recall The Oblongs premiered at 7:30 followed by Nikki at 8pm. Both shows were pulled after one episode(not during) and eventually shown the following year at different timeslots. I edited the article and provided sources.MrTwig (talk) 02:08, 2 December 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Beth's Doll[edit]

I though the Doll was a (used?) tampon and was named Flowie (Flowy?)

Yami (talk) 03:00, 27 December 2008 (UTC) Beth's doll is named "Slowie" and talks to it occasionally.[reply]

Character names[edit]

What exactly is the source of all of the characters middle names? I don't recall it ever being mentioned on the show nor do I remember ever seeing anything in the show's press releases or on Angus Oblong's website. Can someone please provide a valid reference and source for these otherwise they should be removed. Rosie, Queen of Corona (talk) 04:35, 9 May 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Overuse of interlinking?[edit]

Seriously, why are we interlinking things like pickles, oblong, and crush? Is someone willing to decide which links are useful or should I? Sexy plant lover (talk) 05:11, 6 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

The Rugrats?[edit]

The section comparing the characters to Rugrats characters is nonsense and incoherent. I am hesitant to remove an entire section but I can't see how it's relevant or even true (seriously, the only difference between Phil and Lil and Chip and Biff are that Phil and Lil aren't conjoined? I'm going to go out on a limb here and suggest that Lil has at least one other major difference from Chip and Bill AND Phil.) If no one objects with a rational reason why this section is included, I think it should be removed. And if it must stay, it desperately needs some help. Witchzenka (talk) 05:19, 28 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

I think of Tommy every time I hear/see Milo, hah. Blsupr (talk) 15:56, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Suzie smiling[edit]

I removed the information that says Suzie only smiles once in the series, in the episode Disfigured Debbie at Debbie's funeral, because I saw all episodes and she is shown smiling several times. For example:

  • In the episode Flush, Flush, Sweet Helga, when Elga is stuck on the sewer and is about to get drowned there, Suzie smiles, and previously, when Milo's mom decides to give a party to the kids, she laughs and applauds.
  • In Disfigured Debbie, she smiles at Debbie's funeral, but previously, when Milo's decides to challenge Debbie in a school election, she and all of his friends laugh at him together. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Brazilian Man (talkcontribs) 05:09, 3 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Should I add this?[edit]

"The Oblongs is still currently airing on Adult Swim every Friday at 12:00AM and 4:00AM, however The Office will replace it the week after September 11."

I'd would use this as my reference: http://www.adultswim.com/schedule/onair.html Blsupr (talk) 15:53, 5 July 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Is The Page Gonna Change It's Name?[edit]

It says that a new show is coming and its called "The Chamomiles" which has the same premise as the original Oblongs. Also, the characters are different too. If your gonna change the title to something else... Change the page name to where the information will be under the new name of "The Chamomiles". Thank you

Japanese[edit]

Are the Japanese voice actors here a joke? I can find no evidence that these people ever voice acted in this, nor it even existing in Japan.

Here is the addition of their names. lukini (talk | contribs) 04:23, 6 April 2016 (UTC)[reply]

Revival[edit]

I heard Angus Oblong has interest in wanting to revive the show on Adult Swim. --2601:2C0:C280:21A0:15E:18CD:C37E:9BD7 (talk) 17:37, 17 April 2018 (UTC)[reply]
