"magically happy" ending?[edit]

I thought it was rather sinister. He could seemingly replace and forget about the eponymous red balloon - which followed him for days, and which he obviously became extremely attached to - with a load of other balloons.

Perhaps it's a little critique on how easily children form and break bonds? -- w0lfman —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 195.229.242.86 (talk) 13:32, 25 January 2007 (UTC).[reply]

Yes, I tend to agree. We have a film critic w/ The Washington Post, that argues the same thing. See article. I will keep working on the PLOT, and delete this, in a sense, NPOV, sentence. Luigibob 20:49, 1 December 2007 (UTC)Talk to Luigibob![reply]

Is there any other commentary on what the imagery of the movie means to different people. Any psychological motivations the filmmaker had in mind? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.170.123.249 (talk) 18:05, 20 March 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Music[edit]

Very nice article... but it doesn't include anything about the film's music... which was actually perfect!! I love the music of this film... can anything be included? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.203.71.224 (talk) 11:55, 22 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Whatever happened to Pascal Lamorisse?[edit]

I can't seem to find any info on what he is doing these days... Is he a film director, like his father? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.22.79.228 (talk) 18:09, 18 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Other wins[edit]

What's with the "Other wins" section? Why not put it all under "Wins"? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 83.101.36.152 (talk) 22:03, 4 January 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Netfilx appearance?[edit]

I wonder if the article should have a section on some of the short film's footage in Netflix commercials? Who knows? Maybe I could put it in later. :)

Special Effects? Parodies.[edit]

This 34-minute short seems to have been made on a rather small budget. Does anyone know how much it cost to make (US dollars or French francs) and how the special effects were achieved? How did they control the floating "sentient" balloon? At the end, how did they do the cluster balloon shot over Paris? Did Albert really allow his son Pascal to be flown up high on a crane or dangling from a helicopter?

On another note, there are a number of parodies of The Red Balloon. Revenge of the Red Balloon (2000) is a good one (8 minute short; free in a few places on the internet). Pascal and the bullying boys have grown up and the Red Balloon returns on a murderous rampage. AdderUser (talk) 08:03, 10 November 2011 (UTC)[reply]

We have made some changes to the plot and cast list, to make them more coherent and accurate. Linnea Borg (talk) 13:48, 9 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Hi Linnea - that's great to hear that you're planning on making those changes, but actually, these are likely to be less effective as places where you can improve the scholarly quality of the page. Try to think about evaluating sources, fact-checking, and making sure that the information contained on the page is verifiable, rather than going for the 'easier' segments that can be easily checked (like plot and cast). Keep researching, especially in the libraries as we discussed in week 4 of the course. And good luck! DrJennyCee (talk) 22:47, 13 February 2018 (UTC)[reply]
