Lead
  • Seems a little short and I don't think it summarises his career very well. Needs quite a bit of work to make sure it fully summarises the whole article. See WP:LEAD.
  • I have expanded the lead, but you may need to check to see if the length is good. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:21, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • What are "all-purpose yards"?
  • It's a common term in American football and it's wikilinked; does it need be explained in the lead? cmadler (talk) 00:51, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Early life
  • Do you know any details of his father?
  • His father is presumably unknown to Smith, due to his lack of mention in stories about Smith's early life with his mother: [1], [2]. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Minor point but in "In the 2004 game against King George," why does it say the game?  Done Reworded to say "Stafford's game..."
  • "His honors included: all-state kick returner as a sophomore; all-district player as a junior; honorable mention All-Northwest Region quarterback, and all-district and all-area player as a senior." I'd turn this sentence into proper prose.  Done I think removing the colon is all that's needed to make it grammatically correct; semicolons can be used to separate items in a list when, as in this case, commas are used within an item. cmadler (talk) 01:01, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Why is the last quote in a different format to the previous two?  Done - it's not really long enough to merit a blockquote. cmadler (talk) 00:51, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
College career
  • Who is the college career for? Maryland? Done - Mentioned Maryland in the first sentence of each section.
  • What are reps?  Done cmadler (talk) 00:56, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • "Smith reportedly struggled in summer camp, dividing his time between practice and online courses at night." Needs a reference.  Done cmadler (talk) 00:56, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Personal life
  • At this moment, I don't think, half a line justifies a separate sentence. Is there any more info? Or would it be best to move to early life?
  •  Done Moved to "Early life" section. Eagles 24/7 (C) 02:04, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
Others
  • There's a disambig link to Kick-off.  Done cmadler (talk) 00:51, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • There are a couple of deadlinks according to [3].
  • Titles for references shouldn't be written in all caps, see WP:ALLCAPS.  Done cmadler (talk) 00:51, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The vast majority of the article is well-researched, well-written and I can't see any holes. I could possibly suggest a playing style section, though the intermingled quotes help to build that up without a separate section. Is there any criticism of his game though? It's all a bit pro-Smith at the moment. The main thing is to improve the lead and address any other problems above. I'll place on hold until then. Brad78 (talk) 23:04, 5 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

The article writer hasn't edited in a couple weeks now. Not sure if you want to fail this or poke WP:CFB to get someone to wrap it up. He's taken sizable breaks before though so waiting could work out as well. Wizardman Operation Big Bear 17:06, 22 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Got the note at WP:CFB; I'll jump in and do what I can, but my time may be limited the next few days and then I'll probably be on wikibreak for a week. So if someone else wants to help it might be good. cmadler (talk) 00:37, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Additional comments[edit]

  • The lead is now perfect. However, I do have concerns about the links to 2008, 2009 and 2010 Terrapins seasons. Because they are hidden behind text 2008, 2009, 2010, etc, it's not obvious to what they link until you hover over them, which is not possible on all platforms. Either, remove the links or make it more obvious.
  • I somewhat disagree with the sentiment (and other related GA/FAs have done similar; see Bud Grant, Tyrone Wheatley), but don't feel strongly about it. I removed the links in the lead. There are more intuitive links to the seasons in the main text. Strikehold (talk) 00:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • There still doesn't appear to be any criticism of Smith's game. At the moment, it doesn't appear balanced and neutral. Brad78 (talk) 22:14, 24 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
  • Good find, COT. I've incorporated the Friedgen quote from the article. It should be noted though, that a lack of criticism of an individual does not necessarily mean a lack of balance; it could simply mean a lack of public or published criticism. Strikehold (talk) 00:37, 25 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Thanks for all the help, everything is worth a pass now. Brad78 (talk) 00:27, 27 November 2010 (UTC)[reply]
