Manufacture Typo notes[edit]

I've finally completed the Perfect models typography using the official (industrial/commercial) makers denomination! The bike list should be now clearer and easier to search from (^^). These denominations can slightly differs from the ones used by Polyphony Digital which includes mistakes (or "imperfection") such as Katakana to English mistranslation and shortened, incomplete, unofficial or contracted model denominations (missing the "Exup", "Genesis" or "DeltaBox" mentions). The Perfect typo uses space between Chassis (internal reference) *nI, Displacement (cc) *nII and Type (letter) *nIII.

  • Notes:
    • nI. Buell's "XB" 9/12 chassis denomination is based on Harley Davidson's own "XR" denomination. Exemples are "XB12 S" (Lightning), "XB12 X" (Ulysses), "XB12 R" (Firebolt). Another Ref.code+Mod.name exemple is Suzuki's "GSX 1300 R" (Hayabusa) & "GSX 1100 S" (Katana).
    • nII. Kawasaki's single-number denomination (w/o the "00" pair) is actually based on the model's displacement, e.g. "Ninja ZX-6 R" (600cm3/636cc), "Ninja ZX-10 R" (1000cm3/998cc) & "Ninja ZX-12 R" (1200cm3/1199cc).
    • nIII. "E": Enduro, "ST": SportTourer, "S": Sport, "R": Racing, "RR": Racing Replica, "RRW": Racing Replica Works, "F": Four-stroke, "SS": SuperSport/Single Sport, "D": Dirt, etc.

Poor english[edit]

The english in this article isn't great. I'm going to make plenty of tweaks now. If I miss any, please sort them Duke toaster 16:18, 20 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

The English is not great because I, a Frenchman, did this article all by myself. Feel free to correct my mistakes and to rephrase me. I don't care as long as you keep the original meaning. BTW I'll be curious to see & glad to correct your French version... EnthusiastFRANCE 12:00, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Motorland[edit]

Motorland as it appeared in GT4 (and by extension here) is at Tsukuba [1] - the small course at the bottom of the map, rotate 180 and compare to in-game track plan. 81.104.165.184 23:50, 28 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Motorland is named "Kashiwa" by the programmers in the debug version of TT (an unskinned version if you want), and is not part of the official circuits in the game, i'll check it and post a capture of it when i get time. Kashiwa is Kazunori Yamauchi's hometown. In the debug version, "Capitan" is named "Yosemite", "Amalfi" is named "Capri", "Côte d'Azur" is named "Monte-Carlo", "Tokyo R246" is named "Akasaka", and "Cita di Aria" is named "Assisi". I've used the debug version to name the circuits in the article. EnthusiastFRANCE 06:45, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
Motorland is actually an original course!! EnthusiastFRANCE 04:09, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Yosemite[edit]

  • I've revised the "Real Tracks" as it was in March, recently someone has edited it with false infos. Yosemite (Capitan) and Kashiwa (Motorland) are US/JP-flagged in the game, so there are not original tracks, who have a specific blue logo, and they are not part of the official tracks (like Tsukuba, Nurburgring etc.). Please ask for confirmation before editing the article with false infos. Thanks EnthusiastFRANCE 07:08, 29 May 2006 (UTC)[reply]
yes man, thanks for submitting it, but i don't know what to think about it yet (motorland mirrored & rotated)/[2]. Motorland seems to be inspired by Tsukuba, but this is not an official track nor a 100% faithful recreation (right curve is totally different). There are real kart circuits located in Japan that are similar to Motorland too -not only mirrored Tsububa- just like Haruna Motorsportland layout look at the right curve.

EnthusiastFRANCE 03:16, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

I've checked the game and just noticed Motorland was actually not JP-flagged, this is actually an original (fictious) course with it's specific blue icon. I've to update the whole course list now. Also I'm gonna post the caps i've promised today (hopefully).
OK, my bad. Sorry. 81.104.165.184 08:42, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

TT Debug capture screens[edit]

Here there are as I have promised:

  • Motorland's Polyphony Digital logo. Motorland ain't a "real" -understand licensed- (which is the word used in the debug for "World Circuit") circuit but an "original" one. [3]
  • El Capitan is not an "Original" course but a "Real" one since it bears the USA flag. [4]
  • Citta di Aria's actually named Assisi by the programmers. Aria is a city located in Spain, while Assisi is the Italian town really closely modeled (check the city's wiki link!). You can notice "Capri" on the right which is the real location falsely named (unlicensed) Costa di Amalfi. [5]
  • Beginner Course (Driving Park) is an original course (Polyphony Digital blue logo) which is named "20r60r" by the developpers. [6]
  • Motorland (Drving Park) is an original course named Kashiwa by the developpers. Kashiwa is Polyphony Digital director, Kazunori Yamauchi's hometown. [7]

EnthusiastFRANCE 17:21, 1 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Er, "wow". Now that is dedication. Those also confirmed my suspicions about Aria and Amalfi noted in the List of Gran Turismo courses. El Capitan is the only one I'm having difficulty tracing. The location is clearly genuine, though I can't find the actual road that is used for the circuit. I vaguely remember this being listed under "Original Courses" in GT4, so it's possibly an entirely original course just set in the location. Are there any identifying marks on the course, such as a route number, that might help in this? 81.104.165.184 18:55, 3 June 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Lists hurt my brain[edit]

I heartily reccomend nuking all lists and galleries from the article, reducing the article to the handful of actual paragraphs of prose. Lists that contain entries like "Rapide-SR Black" mean nothing to me, and likely mean nothing to the vast majority of people. As the CVG project states: if the content only has value to people actually playing the game, it's unsuitable. Keep in mind that video game articles should be readable and interesting to non-gamers; remember the bigger picture. Nifboy 05:24, 15 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Done! There's still work to do on the cleanup though. +Fin 09:48, 19 July 2006 (UTC)[reply]

Indicator on the Left[edit]

Somebody knows what does the indicator on the left/downside of the display mean? That boomerang above the throttle/brake bar that changes color? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 84.75.130.166 (talk) 21:10, 11 March 2007 (UTC).[reply]
