Petition[edit]

Since somebody sometimes deletes this from the real page, I'm adding it here - since more signers are needed and those who are readig this page are likely to have an interest in seeing this movie out on DVD: A petition for its release on DVD is currently occurring at: http://tcmdb.com/title/title.jsp?scarlettTitleId=14882

I voted! Wikipedia is too similar to Digg - people's edits get deleted without explanation, just like people's comments on Digg get buried or dugg down with no explanation. FranksValli (talk) 04:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Laserdisc[edit]

This movie was released on Laserdisc as well as VHS. Since Turner doesn't seem in a hurry to release this on DVD soon (if ever...), I'm trying to locate a copy to purchase so I can digitize this. I'm even willing to borrow a Laserdisc (if anyone is trusting), transfer it, and then return it. I'm sorry to post this here, but in the interest of preserving this film, I'm having a difficult time tracking down the best copy! FranksValli (talk) 04:48, 6 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Good luck to you...please post what you find out...this is one of my favorite adventure movies (i really don't understand the negative reviews this Wiki article mentions; its surely the most realistic film interpretation of that classic novel...??) Engr105th (talk) 16:49, 12 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
Agreed, it seems the reviewer was brought up on humouristic children versions of Treasure Island. But this movie depicts the story as I think Stevenson himself would have preferred. May not be way Disney would have liked, but it's Stevenson's book, not Disney's, and the review only makes sense if one longs for a comic fairytale - which the original story obviously isn't, thank god... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 62.107.24.213 (talk) 12:41, 15 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
I found it listed on eBay and bought it! I just finished transferring it to my computer last night, and the picture and sound are fantastic!! It was definitely worth tracking this down. I'm going to put together a nice little DVD with chapters, etc. Contact me at efrankvalli@hotmail.com for more info. FranksValli (talk) 19:06, 29 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Versions of the film?[edit]

I have noticed that this movie seemed to exist in two different versions, one version having longer fight scenes but drastically cut down dialouge in places, severely damaging the story. Does anyone know any more about this? Obbas (talk) 16:08, 29 July 2008 (UTC)[reply]

I don't know about this, but I do know that the film is called "Devil's Treasure" in some countries. Maybe it's a different edit as well? 76.168.145.117 (talk) 18:04, 8 August 2008 (UTC)[reply]
