'Gwyndy oldest house in Trefriw'[edit]

In an article on Trefriw our house 'Gwyndy' is mentioned as being the oldest house in the village, we would like to find out where this information came from and whether the source has any other information about the history of the house? —The preceding unsigned comment was added by 88.110.32.143 (talk) 20:31, 2 April 2007 (UTC).[reply]

I made the original entry about Gwyndy, having seen it documented in a couple of places in the past. I will try to locate and cite these sources, but in the meantime my recollection was that there was no other significant detail. Hogyn Lleol 07:54, 3 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hi. I've spent a couple of hours trawling through local history books, newspaper articles, leaflets, etc, but have so far drawn a blank. Can't find anything. All web references merely cite the Wikipedia entry. There is also a reference on the Trefriw website ("I'm told that the oldest house in Trefriw is Gwyndy Cottage ..."). However, I know that I _have_ seen something in print somewhere, and I recall that it has been mentioned in at least one meeting of the local Historical Society. Hi. Thank you for your efforts in trying to find out something of the house's history. Looking through a Gwydir Estate documents catalouge at the archives in Caernarfon I came across the mention of a 'John Moulsdale' described as an 'innholder' and said to be 'of Gwyndy' and appears several time between 1815-20. I have not had time to further research that. The other thing is that Gwyndy is not recorded on the 1839 tithe map and I'm not sure if this is because it was an inn? Regards ...

Ah, your reference to an inn is ringing a vague bell. I wonder if I've seen something at one of the Historical Society meetings where some census documents were made available. (Or was it something you said in the pub!) The church records also go back a very long way. Thinking about it, who's to say that the property was always called Gwyndy? (which could be why we are struggling to find it, and will make any research much harder). But keep hunting, and I will too. Hogyn Lleol 19:03, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]
Hey, just had a thought? Is there nothing in your deeds? e.g. our place is 1970's, but the deeds go back over various land sales back to 1897. Hogyn Lleol 19:07, 6 April 2007 (UTC)[reply]

Pierino Algieri[edit]

I just tried the link given for him, and got to a page headed 'Lifestyle'. I wasn't too happy about this. Can someone find a way of sorting it, or another link? (It's New Year's Eve and I'm not feeling fit....) Peridon (talk) 00:32, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Link removed - it clearly links to a non-related page. Hogyn Lleol (talk) 15:19, 1 January 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Great Railway Journeys[edit]

Apparently Trefriw will be featured in the BBC documentary ‘Great British Railway Journeys’, airing tonight, which might have some interesting cites for the article.--ThePaintedOne (talk) 08:33, 13 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]
