Disambiguation[edit]

There are two databases that are both called "TRIP Database". The one described on the subject page and the free text database system that is also called "Tieto TRIP Database". Previously it was commonly refered to as "TRIP" or "TRIP Database". The later database is probably more known than the former. Jeblad (talk) 08:05, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

Could something about that be added to the Tieto page (for a later dab note on this page)? Nadiatalent (talk) 14:37, 16 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

More info about the other TRIP Database mentioned above[edit]

First, disclaimer: From 1997 to 2000, I worked as a TRIP dba in the UK and between 2000-2006, I worked in the TRIP support department at the (then) company TietoEnator Technology AB in Sweden, later TietoEnator AB, later Tieto AB, latterly TietoEvry AB.

Second: The TRIP mentioned by Jeblad and commented by Nadiatalent above is a COMBINED unstructured database and search engine and as such, I do not believe it falls within the scope of WikiProject Medicine

I also echo the above request that TRIP (search engine) requires disambiguation.

I don't know where to start regarding creating Wikipedia content, particularly for disambiguation, so here are some links in the hope that someone might be able to oblige:

  • The TRIP database described above has existed in one form or another since a KTH (Stockholm's technical university) project in the mid 70s. This is a link to a pdf document detailing the early history of what became TRIP
  • Here is a link to a book about TRIP in Chinese if you really want to spend some money and go deep!

I have no idea if any of the above is of any use, buy one has to try, doesn't one? 🙂
