[edit] Uncharted 2 Among Thieves
The sequel has been officially announced
[edit] Playstation Project
I am going to be doing some major reworking of this article on behalf of the Playstation Project. If you would like to assist with this process, please feel free to contact me. Taintedzodiac 14:59, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
Initial reworking of the article completed. Need someone who has been following this game to aid with references and general information. Taintedzodiac 15:39, 13 November 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Game Engine
Does anyone know the name of the game engine (i.e., middleware) used in the development of Uncharted: Drake's Fortune? Is it third-party or in-house? Aeonassoc 15:33, 9 August 2007 (UTC)
Its in house. Says somewhere on the website... —Preceding unsigned comment added by 72.23.145.65 (talk) 20:35, 9 October 2007 (UTC)
[edit] This article
Must have been written by Naughty Dog's PR people or the biggest fanboy ever. The game isn't out, let's save the gushing praise until it gets good reviews.
I did my best to remove the blatant advertising in the Overview. I know next to nothing about the game, but that's what I could distil from what was there. Anyone with more knowledge should take a shot at the Game Features section. Eltargrim 12:24, 29 May 2007 (UTC)
Ya, I mean I love my PS3 and am as hyped for it as anyone else, but the article is a little much.
[edit] New image required
The official logo is featured at the end of the official trailer for this game and should be screencapped and put as the main image. --Jack Zhang 10:10, 21 June 2007 (UTC)
[edit] Spoiler
The IS a descendant (sp) of Sir Francis Drake has been changed to MAY BE a descendant. Was the first one spoiler that someone tried to fix?
The spoiler warning in the plot header should be removed altogether as it contradicts the style guide. Evilkeen (talk) 21:19, 15 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Game Rating
Can we get a positive source on the rating? Official websites of the game and esrb still say unrated.
[edit] Fair use rationale for Image:Naughty-dog-ps3-project-untitled-20060526040214858.jpg
Image:Naughty-dog-ps3-project-untitled-20060526040214858.jpg is being used on this article. I notice the image page specifies that the image is being used under fair use but there is no explanation or rationale as to why its use in this Wikipedia article constitutes fair use. In addition to the boilerplate fair use template, you must also write out on the image description page a specific explanation or rationale for why using this image in each article is consistent with fair use.
Please go to the image description page and edit it to include a fair use rationale. Using one of the templates at Wikipedia:Fair use rationale guideline is an easy way to insure that your image is in compliance with Wikipedia policy, but remember that you must complete the template. Do not simply insert a blank template on an image page.
If there is other fair use media, consider checking that you have specified the fair use rationale on the other images used on this page. Note that any fair use images uploaded after 4 May, 2006, and lacking such an explanation will be deleted one week after they have been uploaded, as described on criteria for speedy deletion. If you have any questions please ask them at the Media copyright questions page. Thank you.

[edit] Petition
This should be removed, it has little relevance to the topic and the likelyhood of it actually happening is nearly zero.
[edit] blood
should be noted blood effect is disabled on jap PS3 due to local censorship, it affects all game versions since it is actually the same in a different package. Cliché Online 17:28, 4 December 2007 (UTC)
- How do you mean? On Japanese PSN accounts? Or on Japanese region consoles? And by "it affects all game versions since it is actually the same in a different package" do you mean any game sold anywhere will be effected on for mentioned Japanese PSN/consoles? I can see that, since Blu-Ray discs have enough capacity and Ratchet and Clank game also has different textures for Ratchet.--WhereAmI (talk) 23:26, 5 December 2007 (UTC)
I have the game and play it on a Japanese PS3 Slim. I can say that all the blood is in there and very visible. Is this something related to the PS3 Slim? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 219.101.226.2 (talk) 03:51, 30 November 2009 (UTC)
[edit] Descendants
Officially, the "monsters" are called Descendants [of the Spaniards], but I do not recall while playing the actual game the characters referring to them as such. Suggestions?--WhereAmI (talk) 01:26, 6 December 2007 (UTC)
I don't remember them being mentioned as descendents either. I'll see if I can find a reference then maybe we can change them in the article. It would be nicer than just calling them mutants.P'sInTheShadows (talk) 15:31, 11 December 2007 (UTC)
They are referred to as "descendants" in the game's credits, voiced by Steve Blum and Fred Tatasciore
- Thank you for mentioning exactly what I said in my first word, "Officially"--WhereAmI (talk) 05:29, 29 December 2007 (UTC)
[edit] trivia
Wanted to give you a heads up that someone is going to give you a hard time about the trivia section any day now.--Playstationdude (talk) 23:59, 4 January 2008 (UTC)
--I personally don't mind the trivia so much, though It looks as though most of it could be integrated pretty well into the article, and/or perhaps a section along the lines of "References to Other Naughty Dog Games". I do think the line about the characters hair being a slightly different shade in early concepts could and probably should be removed as it seems to really push the envelope, even as far as trivia goes.
In regards to the 'Ark of the Covenant' entry, I don't know if that implies that in an earlier version of the story they were looking for the Ark. All it could mean is that her character is jokingly making a reference to Indiana Jones. Evilkeen (talk) 23:36, 18 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Weapons
I tried to start a section on the weapons used in the game. I tried to make the necessary links, but it's a bit bare as I'm not much of a weapons expert. Feel free to flesh it out. RepSchnell (talk) 20:21, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
- I dunno if it needs to be that detailed. Perhaps just a discussion on the choice to use weapon models that exist in the real world rather than fictional look-alikes. Evilkeen (talk) 20:53, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
-
- Weapon sections are considered as "gamecruft" and are not really appropriate. As suggested above, you can mention in the gameplay section that the weapons are based on real-world versions and possibly list a couple, and if there's developer information about how they picked the weapons, that would help, but otherwise this section isn't appropriate. --MASEM 21:13, 16 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Good
You guys have done great editing to the article! I'm going to nominate it for good article, but remove the trivia.--Playstationdude (talk) 20:57, 25 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Good article
Sorry, but I'm failing this article for GA status. It's a solid B article, but there are definitely things that need to get cleared up in order to become a GA.
- The lead is probably not comprehensive or long enough. Please see WP:LEAD. My suggestion would be to include a snippet intro of the plot and the general reception (good, bad, mediocre).
- The article doesn't seem comprehensive enough, nor is it cited as much as it should. Nothing is spoken about the development of the game, which is an important part of any video game article. Additionally, the fact about a series (the one with the citation needed template) must be cited. The Gameplay section is uncited as well.
- The plot is too long and detailed. Try cutting a few things out.
- The reception section is not detailed enough. More should be said about what the critics liked and disliked. It's good to add a few quotes from the reviewers about this.
- Could you possibly find an English citation for a sequel? If not, the French one is OK, but you should use the language parameter in the Cite web template alerting users of the fact.
It's a solid start, but needs more work. bibliomaniac15 00:30, 26 January 2008 (UTC)
- The story outline makes no sense. Its run-on sentance after run-on sentance. Please allow me to fix it and add more story detail. -deet 26 January 2008 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 209.181.147.235 (talk) 05:27, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
- I think the above has a good point. There's no reason the plot has to include every detail of the game. Evilkeen (talk) 05:39, 27 January 2008 (UTC)
okay..I've started fixing it, it will take awhile though. It should be done in the next few days -deet 27 January 2008 08:52 —Preceding unsigned comment added by 71.38.247.235 (talk) 03:52, 28 January 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The Story section
I'm kind of new to Wiki editing, but I was unable to undo the changes some kid (GoldenRuler1222) did to the story section. Can an admin revert them since it's locked due to conflict? He basically changed the entire thing to read "Hi Logan! STFU" —Preceding unsigned comment added by BlazingOwnager (talk • contribs) 04:58, 29 February 2008 (UTC)
Please add that the story starts off the coast of Panama. This is important because of who Sir Francis Drake was, and you can confirm it here: http://uk.videogames.games.yahoo.com/ps3/previews/uncharted--drake-s-fortune-4ef7cf.html —Preceding unsigned comment added by 200.46.174.14 (talk) 13:57, 16 September 2010 (UTC)
[edit] Raja's language
Anybody know what language Eddie Raja speaks? He says a few phrases in a foreign tongue and I'm curious as to what it is.PowderedToastMan (talk) 06:27, 2 March 2008 (UTC) He speaks Indonesian.
[edit] Elena's Changing Hair color
If you didn't know Elena was originally a brunette and then was changed to a blonde by Naughty Dog during the final stages of the game after E3 07'. If you watch the original trailer on the PSN or online you can clearly see she is a brunette. The Game Informer #168 April 2007 cover issue with Uncharted also has Elena pictured as a brunette. DevonTheDude (talk) 00:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Elena's Changing Camera
I have never seen this posted online but I noticed that Elena's video camera seemed to change brands similar to her hair color too. In the original trailer (on the PSN or online) and in the Game Informer issue #168 April 2007 you can see the video camera that Elena is using is a Sony HDV (High-def video camera) but in the released game the Sony brand and HDV have been changed to a made up company. The only reason I could see its disappearance is that Elena goes into the water with the camera during a cut scene, maybe Sony said that that mis represented the use of the camera (I assume the real camera can't go underwater) so they took the name and manufacturer off the camera for legal reasons. DevonTheDude (talk) 00:30, 12 March 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Indonesian?
can someone give me an official source that says that Raja speaks Indonesian? in other words cite it. —Preceding unsigned comment added by Megaman en m (talk • contribs) 19:55, 27 June 2008 (UTC)
Is it really needed? I don't think it's necessary as what he spoke was clearly Indonesian, It's like asking an official source that the language in the game is Japanese or English. I'm an Indonesian and i can assure you that the language used is Indonesian, not others.. The only language similar to Indonesian is Malay/Melayu (Bahasa Indonesia is rooted from malay) spoken by Malaysian, but i don't think it is Malay, due to the spoken accent and the use of words like "sialan" and "tai", and the word they use for "speak" is usually "cakap" not "bicara".
Well, i did research a bit to find wheter there's anything official about the language, and i didn't find any... sorry if this doesn't help.
[edit] GA Review
- This review is transcluded from Talk:Uncharted: Drake's Fortune/GA1. The edit link for this section can be used to add comments to the review.
The article's fair use rationales are fine, stability seems OK, neutrality seems fine. However, there is still some considerable expansion needed and some other issues.
- The placement of cites is inconsistent, some are before commas, some are after, please move them behind the commas. Check that there's no spaces between full-stops and citations, spotted at least one.
- Fixed comma/reference problems; extra spaces eliminated (one found). Synergy/Blades (Talk) 23:57, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- Please use the more standard Gameplay> Plot> Development> Reception article layout.
- Completed. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 23:59, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
- The article's lead is inadequate, "Originally announced at E3 2006[5] and released at the end of 2007, the game was well-received by critics." should be the start of a second paragraph, which should be roughly the same size as the current paragraph.
- Have expanded to include second paragraph, mostly impact after the game's release (general reviews, sales). Synergy/Blades (Talk) 00:41, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Plot summary is almost completely unsourced, it needs to resemble Golden Sun: The Lost Age's plot section. "Elena looses her camera when nearly falling off a bridge but is saved by Nathan." Looses?
- Looses was added after I nominated, honest! Anyway, have added relevant plot quotes, I feel I've got the right balance of quality vs. quantity. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 02:17, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- In gameplay: "the player can use melee and combo attacks at close..." could you explain combo attacks to the reader and link it to combo if there's an article here (think there is).
- Hope that's a better explanation of combo attacks, have also tried to explain the difference between that and standard melee. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 00:11, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Under 'regional differences': "Unlike Resistance: Fall of Man, which was also censored on Japanese consoles, copying a save file from a North American console will not enable blood effects in Uncharted." needs citing.
- As I somewhat expected, there is no reliable source for this. Short of attempting to integrate this tiny section elsewhere (which remains an option), I have expanded on how this censorship has happened for other bloody PS3 games in the Japanese region. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 00:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- What's there now is fine, except that the citation needs author and publisher details. What I'd suggest is tagging this sentence to the above paragraph, removing the subheading and putting the link to the list of regionally censored games in a 'see also' section at the end of the article. The material above this subheading, about unlockables, also needs citing. Someoneanother 01:06, 14 August 2008 (UTC)

Synergy/Blades (Talk) 00:20, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Reception is well-cited but threadbare, with a couple of single sentence paragraphs which should be merged or expanded. Cites are bunched up which suggests that the information within can be expanded. How about smacking readers upside the head with some choice quotes? This is an important PS3 title so really its reception section should be roughly the size of other well-documented games like Devil May Cry 4.
That's it for now, the development and sequel sections are just fine. Someoneanother 23:22, 13 August 2008 (UTC)
Sorry to be a nuisance, but would you mind removing some of the one-word quotes, and instead using singular quotes which means that the cites don't have to be in the middle of sentences rather than tucked around full-stops or commas, IE some longer review statements? Someoneanother 05:01, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Two magazine reviews aren't cited in the review box, rather than worrying about trying to cite them how about just whipping them outta there? There's plenty of scores without them. Someoneanother 05:07, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Very well. I did it this way because, in my honest opinion, I found the Devil May Cry 4 reception section unhelpful. For Uncharted there are plenty of different individual points made by reviewers which, perhaps unlike DMC4, cannot be addressed by merely ripping chunks of sentences out of three or so reviews and placing them in the reception section. Nevertheless, if that's what it takes to get it to Good Article status, I will do it that way instead. Synergy/Blades (Talk) 14:16, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
- Right, in that case I've tweaked a few of the positions (altering no text or punctuation) which has reduced the amount of floating citations, a couple were in front of full stops instead of behind which was adding to the effect, so let's leave well enough alone in reception. If you could remove the magazine scores or cite them, not sure if you feel strongly they should be there or not, I'm having a final read-through of the article. Someoneanother 16:19, 14 August 2008 (UTC)
[edit] The image of Nathan scaling a wall
Image:Uncharted drake fortress.jpg
I kind of doubt anyone who hasn't played through that section can even easily spot Nathan from the picture, let alone figure out what's going on in the image. Even enlarged, the resolution on the picture is ridiculous; it's not much an improvement. I have no doubt that it's the result of an effort to keep the resolution of fair use images low, but this is a prime example of the baby going out with the bathwater. I don't suppose getting a slightly larger version of the image would be a possibility?
And I'm not talking about HD resolution here, either; it's just that 240x160 pixels is small enough to turn most images where the main character is tiny in comparison to the rest of the picture more or less incomprehensible. -- Captain Disdain (talk) 10:04, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
- When I cropped it, I was trying to convey a sense of the scale of certain sections and environments of the game. But I do see your point, and I've recropped the original, hope it looks better; the resolution is a little larger too. SynergyBlades (talk) 13:07, 28 November 2008 (UTC)
-
- Oh, yeah; that's a definite improvement. Now you can tell what's going on. Thanks! -- Captain Disdain (talk) 09:11, 2 December 2008 (UTC)
[edit] Voice cast list
I feel that having a list, along with insertion in the prose, of the voice acting cast makes it more efficient for people coming to the article specifically for that information. Rather than scanning the article for the POSSIBILITY of it containing the actual voice cast, in this case in parenthesis by their fictional counterparts. Insertion within the prose is aesthetically better looking, but certainly not as efficient. Granted, people could do a "ctrl+f" (or the like) to find 'Nathan Drake' and hope that it says who the voice actor is, but also, not everyone knows of such find shortcuts. Plus, with a separate section for the voice cast list it is in the little table of contents box and so readers can go directly to that information.
Also, I undid the deletion of the voice cast list whilst not logged-in because I am on a different computer than my own personal one and forgot that it wasn't auto-log-in.Nowdoug (talk) 03:20, 19 December 2008 (UTC)
