Untitled[edit]

I know that UICC stands for the hardware of the SIM card used in mobil phones but I am sure that this piece of small memory must have a way to interface with to manipulate it for other applications. I need to know how I could myself program an empty UICC if I have one to use it for any other application.

Need more information on acronyms used.[edit]

What are PUK1 and PUK2 (as used in this article)?

ANSWER: PUK means PIN Unblocking Key, used in case the PIN is blocked after several failed attempts to input the correct PIN value. PUK1 unblocks PIN1, while PUK2 unblocks PIN2. -ACE

Nitpick[edit]

If it's wrong to call a UICC a SIM card, the caption for the second image should be changed. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 87.162.7.67 (talk) 18:30, 13 February 2010 (UTC)[reply]

"Application"?[edit]

This article, as well as others such as (U)SIM Interface, Subscriber Identity Module, CDMA Subscriber Identify Module, or IP Multimedia Services Identity Module say smart cards contain "applications" (such as "SIM application", "USIM application", "ISIM application", "telephone book applications" etc.).
Can operators place proprietary applications on smart cards, and are there any standards about how to start and interact with these applications? For instance, as the "phone book application" seems to work with all phone books, there seems to be a common approach to run smart card applications. In which language are these applications usually written? Thanks, --Abdull (talk) 16:05, 5 January 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Looks like they either run typically Java Card or some proprietary OS (probably in C or assembly?) http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Universal_Subscriber_Identity_Module#Operating_systems —Preceding unsigned comment added by 99.224.181.247 (talk) 20:00, 21 February 2011 (UTC)[reply]

Entry rename?[edit]

Pedantic, but: If "UICC is neither an abbreviation nor an acronym" then shouldn't this entry be named something like UICC (smart card standard)? Crcarlin (talk) 17:33, 15 May 2022 (UTC)[reply]
