Topics to be addressed[edit]

Following are some topics this article needs to attend to:

  • Urban disaster management
  • The rise of metropolitan cities, and resultant migration and job opportunities (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Metropolitan_area#India)
  • Urban infrastructure development - Public transport, roads, water supply, electricity (major sources, nuclear, hydroelectric)
  • Increasing international exposure to cities, Kerala having highest no. of international airports in a single state.
  • 4 major cities namely Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai and Bengaluru.

not necessarily in that order.

I also say that a separate article for Ancient Indian urban planning is possible, which involves Vastu Shastra and concepts from the Shilpa Shastras being applied to design. The concept of Homa native to India. The various fort cities built over the ages, and their unique designs to repel attacks - Forts_in_India could be just some points. Could we add something about Tamil Nadu, there's a lot of urbanisation and population shift going on down there. --Rsrikanth05 (talk) 19:00, 15 June 2012 (UTC)[reply]
