The lake during the war[edit]

I believe that very soon after its completion, the lake was drained, during World War II, to avoid the reflections which would assist the navigation of enemy bombers. However I haven't yet found a source for this online, so haven't added this. Maybe someone has one of the history books on St Albans which confirm this? It would be a useful addition. --David Edgar (talk) 11:34, 19 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

A humourous story about the lake[edit]

When I lived in London Colney in 2001-2, a resident told me a story about another resident. He said this resident would go to the lake every Christmas Eve and snatch one of the ducks for his Christmas dinner. He would not tell me any more about this as the offender could have ended up spending his Christmas in jail if he was ever caught.Bill Pollard (talk) 14:10, 13 December 2011 (UTC)[reply]
