Expanding this article[edit]

Can it be that no one noticed that an article this central to the entire sweep of television technology was only a disambig page (and before that a redirect to camcorder, a mere subset of the video camera family)? Before one even begins to look at the pages linked from this page, it helps to have an understanding of what the general case of "video camera" is, and a dab page doesn't do that. I've added a bit of history and fleshed out the former disambig link farm a little, but there's got to be a wealth of other history and technical information that would be useful for this article. Proposal for expanding the article[edit]

This article is in desperate need of proper expansion. We need to divide this article into at least two sections as follows:

1. History section which should including info on: a) T he first professional video cameras used for TV broadcasts. b) The first direct-to-tape video cameras (separate video recorder device, not a camcorder), c) First consumer/prosumer video cameras that had separate camera and recording units. d) Video tape formats used in early consumer video camera systems (Beta, VHS/VHS-C, & Video8). e) First/early camcorders systems (VHS/VHS-C & Vidieo8), f) Professional video cam tech (Betacam, etc.) g) Digital camcorder tech h) Smart Phone digital video recording and other digital video recording tech (using fixed storage medium). i) Digital camera use in professional movie making (switch from film to digital movies), Current state of video cam technology (professional and consumer).

2. Info on different video camera types including: a) Separate camera and recording units systems of the 70's aimed at consumers/prosumers. b) Camcorder units using analog tape formats. c) Digital video camcorders using digital tape formats (such as Mini-DV, Digital8, and DVD-R) d) Toy working analog video cameras such as the The PXL-2000 (also known as Fisher-Price PXL2000, Fisher-Price PixelVision, Sanwa Sanpix1000, KiddieCorder, and Georgia) e) Fixed storage video camera systems (Flash memory based camera including Smartphones and tablets). --Notcharliechaplin (talk) 20:13, 10 November 2018 (UTC)[reply]

Team-B-Vital Improvement Drive[edit]

Hello all!

This article has been chosen as this week's effort for WP:Discord's #team-b-vital channel, a collaborative effort to bring Vital articles up to a B class if possible, similar to WP:Articles for Improvement. This effort will run for up to seven days, ending early if the article is felt to be at B-class or impossible to further improve. Articles are chosen by a quick vote among interested chatters, with the goal of working together on interesting Vital articles that need improving.

Thank you! Remagoxer (talk) 23:09, 9 February 2022 (UTC)[reply]
