Just because the population is 130 does not mean it is not a ghost town. It was a major mining camp in the early days and the population collapsed after the mines ran out. It is a major tourist attraction because it was a teritorial capital that became a ghost town. Many other ghost towns also have similar populations. -- RTC 06:55, 5 Nov 2004 (UTC)

It's not a ghost town...it's still the county seat for Madison County, has a functional court house, library, businesses, and year round permanent population. Jack Slade was lynched in Virginia City by the local vigilante committee in 1864. Did he not live in the town? Even for a short period of time?Methychroma (talk) 00:23, 15 June 2009 (UTC)[reply]

Slade wasn't a Virginia City native, but in his last days he lived in the area, on a dairy farm about 12 miles away, and ran a freight-hauling company in Virginia City.
