Name[edit]

Can somebody move the page back to its original title per WP:COMMONNAME? The spelling Vitali Klitschko is indisputably used in the "significant majority of independent, reliable English-language sources". – 2.O.Boxing 14:00, 18 September 2020 (UTC)[reply]

BoxRec ratings[edit]

I've looked up BoxRec rankings and I'm convinced that the "divisional" rankings are only divisional on paper. While there is an option to display rankings for a specific division, BoxRec does not divide any boxer's career, accomplishments and results by division at all. Those definitely aren't divisional rankings - those are only rankings of fighters who finished their careers in the given division. Oleksandr Usyk scored a lot of points at cruiserweight, but because his last fight was at heavyweight, he is ranked among greatest heavyweights of all time and not ranked among cruiserweights at all, even though he became an undisputed champion there. Same for David Haye, who is ranked No. 29 heavyweight of all time but not ranked among cruiserweights at all. But by far the most telling example is Roy Jones Jr, currently ranked as the greatest cruiserweight of all time - because his last fight was at cruiserweight. He is not ranked among light heavyweights at all.

While I don't see any issue at all with mentioning BoxRec all-time pound-for-pound rankings, mentions of the website's all-time divisional rankings should be either removed or worded differently to avoid spreading misinformation and mislead the reader. Instead of stating "this fighter is ranked as the n-th greatest welterweight/lightweight/featherweight etc.", something like "this fighter is ranked as the n-th greatest fighter to have finished his career at welterweight/lightweight/featherweight etc." would be more precise.
