[edit] Next/last game

The beginning bit about the last and next games is not good as it is hard to keep it updated and wikipedia is not a results service! It should be removed. If people agree do it.

How do you know Bowyer's Mears' and Cole's squad numbers I haven't seen them on the official site

[edit] OPORTO MIDFIELD 10 TELMO U 15 TRANSFER

HEllo,

Contacting West Ham Academy from Portugal. Can someone confirm summer transfer of a youth portuguese player from OPORTO squad, Telmo offensive midfielder, born 1992; is probably the best U15 player in Portugal and we are sure he is going to London but no so sure the name of the club, some rumors talk about Arsenal, some Spurs and so on; he is going to study and live in London , as we know.

[edit] more vandalism

can somebody please remove the nickname 'the cheats' as it is what some moany northern fans are accusing us of being and NOT an official nickname

Envious Sheffodder Untied Athletic supporters

It's not nice to group people and instantly assume that they all do this. Just because we're from the North of England, it doesn't mean we do this. What if people from Portsmouth think you cheat as well?

[edit] Promote the Stadium & Academy of Football sections

Should the sections on the stadium & on the Academy of Football be moved up higher on the page, especially ahead of the Hooligans section? All feedback welcome, Battapieman

[edit] Craig Bellamy

I added his name to the list of ex-WH players who get a hostile reaction at Upton Park (Did this whilst not logged in into account). Not only do I know this by seeing and taking part in that on Sunday (West Ham - Man City), but I also took a picture of news article in The Sun and linked it as reference. I also added Bobby Zamora as an ex-hammer who gets praise (Again, I recall seeing this in match against Villa). I hope this isn't taken off, as I put effort into it.

Isn't the captain of West Ham Scott Parker now, instead of Matthew Upson? Or is it because Upson's injured?

[edit] Daniel Potts

There is some toing and froing re his flag icon. West Ham are now showing him with the US flag as they do Guy Demel the Ivorian flag even though he is a French citizen. Even though it irks me surely the US flag should be used until he gets picked by England if ever. Any comments?.REVUpminster (talk) 19:59, 2 January 2012 (UTC)

It works the other way around for wikipedia (and I suspect FIFA), until they are selected for the full competitive International team (to my knowledge) they are still technically their mother nation. Koncorde (talk) 00:14, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
Not a full cap. In theory Potts could still be called up for England. Koncorde (talk) 19:54, 3 January 2012 (UTC)
  • True Just as well Almunia never stayed. He's eligible for England.REVUpminster (talk) 20:20, 3 January 2012 (UTC)

Nationality up in the air again as he has been picked for the England U18 squad for a friendly against Poland and West Han are confusing the issue by changing his flag icon from american to english in the Millwall programme.REVUpminster (talk) 07:57, 14 February 2012 (UTC)

  • Update yesterdays programme against southampton is still displaying the english icon.REVUpminster (talk) 08:14, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
Maybe the people who compile the programme don't use Wikipedia's criteria for flag use and nationality?--Egghead06 (talk) 08:23, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
  • When he represents England I presume the icon will change to English.REVUpminster (talk) 10:59, 15 February 2012 (UTC)
If he does, yes. --Jimbo[online] 02:24, 16 February 2012 (UTC)

[edit] Squad table format

A discussion is being held here on the possibility of rolling out a new squad template. The new template, named {{football squad player2}}, differs from the standard squad layout in several ways:

  • It features a sort function
  • Comes in a single column format that can be understood by screen readers.
    • Single column format ensures that low resolution browsers, including mobile devices, do not get part or all of the second column cut off.
    • Single column format ensures less clutter, particularly at lower resolutions, for wide sections such as the Arsenal loan section.
  • It gives nationality its own column; at present flags are featured in a blank, untitled column
  • It complies with Wikipedia's guidance on flag usage.
  • It leaves enough space to add images of current players, an example of which can be seen at Watford F.C#Current squad.

It is proposed that the new template be added to some of Wikipedia's most high-profile club articles, which might include West Ham United F.C.. To give your thoughts, please read and contribute to the discussion at WikiProject Football.
