Can someone add a pronunciation guide that isn't incomprehensible symbols to the page? I'd like to be able to pronounce this word properly without a degree in linguistics.

IPA isn't exactly rocket science, and nothing like Chinese or Japanese writing, cuneiform, or Egyptian hieroglyphics, for example. Most people literate in English can learn to read Greek, Cyrillic, Hebrew or other (non-Latin-derived) alphabets with just a little effort, and basic IPA is hardly more complex. In fact, it's Latin-based unlike those foreign alphabets, and much more straightforward than English spelling (there are no different upper and lower case letters or initial/final/joining forms, either) – if anything, the problem for literate Anglophones is that IPA is so easy and you need to unlearn the peculiarities of English orthography. If you have a table ready in another tab, you needn't even have every symbol memorised.
To address your request more directly, we do have pronunciation respelling, but as a conventional Anglicised version or even pronunciation of Xóchitl doesn't exist (to my knowledge), it makes little sense to use it here. Also, if you can't pronounce the Nahuatl sounds (again, this is not an unsurmountable obstacle by any means, with just a little effort), not having IPA won't help you much, unless you're happy with a heavily distorted SHOW-chee-tle or the like.
I mean, the pronunciation template even links you directly to Help:IPA for Spanish and Help:IPA for Nahuatl; how could we make it any easier for you? --Florian Blaschke (talk) 18:07, 4 January 2013 (UTC)[reply]

I would like to point out that the supplied Spanish IPA contains the exact same symbols as the Nahuatl IPA - however, there is a symbol that has no definition in the Spanish IPA Help. It seems that only the Nahuatl should be used, or the Spanish IPA should be corrected to only use Spanish language symbols/sounds. — Preceding unsigned comment added by 69.61.132.2 (talk) 19:47, 2 November 2017 (UTC)[reply]
