Untitled[edit]

I have marked this as requiring justification as a Wikipedia entry because no evidence is given in the article that XMIND is more noteable than any of the 80 or so other mind mapping software products. That software like MindManager is noteable is without doubt, and some others among the 80 meet the criteria for notability, but why does this one?

I previously marked this when the article was under "Xmind" here: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Talk:Xmind but by a redirection, that talk page was separated from the article, and the "notable" tag disappeared, with no attempt to meet the gudelines for notability.

Before removing the tag from this page again, I ask that editors please read http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wikipedia:Notability and ensure that the article is justified by "verifiable objective evidence to support a claim of notability. Substantial coverage in reliable sources constitutes such objective evidence, as do published peer recognition and the other factors listed in the subject specific guidelines."

I also removed the multiple links to the XMIND site. One in the head is reasonable, but more (two more at the foot) makes it look like spam.

I don't think this page should be deleted! XMIND is a great mind mapping software. Much easier usage than any other applications, even though this is a new entry. BTW, XMIND has garnered "The best 100 products of 2007" from PC World China.

I have added some link for XMIND. One links to its official website. One links to PC World China. One links to the official forum about XMIND. One links to a website built by a mind mapping software expert--Chuck Frey. Stephen —Preceding unsigned comment added by Stephen0928 (talkcontribs) 02:47, 29 November 2007 (UTC)[reply]

I question XMIND being real open-source, to build xmind, a number of pre-compiled libraries from a binary xmind distribution is needed. Build instructions xmind

Three years ago (almost to the day, see above) I questioned the notability of this software. It has since established itself as one of the leading mind map software packages, and I know it has downloads in the millions. But the article did not make the case from secondary sources, and another editor rightly added the notability template back again. I see that it has now appeared in PCWorld under "Productivity Software: Best of 2010", so I have added this reference and am about to remove the template questioning notability. XMIND or XMind[edit]

It appears to now be styled XMind at the official project site. I suggest an article rename. I'm an inclusionist, and I think that the awards justify the existence of this article, but at present it reads far too much like an auxiliary manual page.

The release table has become far too dominant and the platform and language columns contain an immense amount of text relative to information content. Could we at least render the Chinese ideogram style as Chinese(S/T) with an explanatory footnote? Or even render S and T using Chinese ideograms, since anyone who cares would be able to interpret these immediately. Or visually, we could use the two flags from the opposite sides of the Formosa Strait (but, no, that would make some people see red.) — MaxEnt 19:47, 10 May 2010 (UTC)[reply]

open source?[edit]

this software has 2 versions : free and commercial. how can it be open source? —Preceding unsigned comment added by 1c33y37 (talkcontribs) 10:05, 22 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

This page says:
"XMind is dual licensed under 2 open source licenses:
the Eclipse Public License v1.0 (EPL), which is available at http://www.eclipse.org/legal/epl-v10.html , and the GNU Lesser General Public License v3 (LGPL), which is available at http://www.gnu.org/licenses/lgpl.html.
For licensees that wish to distribute XMind 3, modify the source code, and/or build extensions, the EPL can be used to maintain copyleft of the original code base while encouraging innovation with commercial and other open source offerings incorporating XMind." (Retrieved Aug 23, 2010)
Presumably the Pro version contains proprietary code, and that code is not open source, but I can't see any objection to the claim of open source for the free version. Argey (talk) 04:34, 23 August 2010 (UTC)[reply]

Info on XMind Ltd.[edit]

Can we add some info on XMind Ltd? Example who runs the company, where it is based etc. Sometimesthinking (talk) 21:21, 18 February 2012 (UTC)[reply]

marketing texts[edit]

Texts like that "XMind Pro helps the users making the most of XMind" and more are very typical marketing texts. I would prefer if the marketing department (one guy?) of XMind would avoid flooding information with commercial interest.

Platforms[edit]

Hello

I just reviewed a contribution by our newcomer colleague, Annatity: Revision 787567239. This contribution claims there is a web app version and an iOS version of XMind.

The problem is: I cannot authenticate this claim. The XMind download page only offers Windows, macOS and Linux versions. iTunes Store does not have an XMind either.

However, I did find something that could be mistaken for a web and iOS version of XMind. Another app and service named XMind Cloud. Despite the similarity of the names, XMind Cloud is not XMind. The former is a synchronization service, not a mind-mapping app.

I hope this clears up the issue.

Hello
XMind Cloud is not only a sync service. When users open XMind Cloud for Web, they can create a mind map with 8 themes, add topic/subtopics, relationship, notes, hyperlink, marker, image, label and format the workbook and all topic. So I think it is a mind mapping tool just named XMind Cloud with sync features. So is XMind Cloud for iOS.

Well, I can still see two issues here:
1. This article is not about XMind Cloud, no matter what it is.
2. You are wrong. According to App Store entry for XMind Cloud: "XMind Cloud is a synchronization tool for XMind across devices."
Codename Lisa (talk) 09:16, 27 June 2017 (UTC)[reply]

Hi,

1. Yes, this article is not about XMind Cloud, but XMind. As a sync tool for XMind, I think I can mention XMind Cloud in this page.

2. The description on Apple Store for XMind Cloud may not be so accurate. Since XMind Cloud supports creating and editing a mind map. Technically, XMind Cloud is a mind mapping software and supports syncing with XMind.
