Please note that yhe Yak-42 is currently being used in Cuba by Cubana Airlines they have several aircraft in service.

What is "clobber"?[edit]

Dear colleagues from the NATO countries, can somebody tell me what is the meaning of the word "clobber" in the context of the NATO nickname "Clobber" for Yak-42 aircraft? There are several meanings in the dictionaries and there is currently a discussion in the Russian wikipedia, which meaning is the intended one. With respect to its use as a code name, the word "Clobber" doesn't (and needn't) mean anything. Codes names were meant only to be distinctive and unmistakable identifiers for various Communist-bloc hardware.--172.190.43.192 (talk) 02:47, 5 January 2012 (UTC)[reply]
