Israel Today again[edit]

We have previously discussed whether this is RS or not. Now a new editor seeks to introduce data from this source again - it would be helpful to discuss this here and reach consensus before editing and counter-editing. For the present I have again removed this material. Cpsoper (talk) 22:01, 11 January 2014 (UTC) Second editor has attempted same. Given the agreed consensus here about IT, I think this should be discussed before edits made.Cpsoper (talk) 13:50, 12 January 2014 (UTC)[reply]

User:Cpsoper was referring to a section of the article Rabbi Reveals Name of the Messiah that someone stuck into the Wikipedia article.

I recently revised the paragraph on the Mashiach to say:

Before his death, Kaduri had said that he expected the Mashiach, the Jewish Messiah, to arrive soon, and that he had met him a year earlier.[1][2] It has been alleged that he left a hand-written note to his followers and they were reportedly instructed to only open the note after Rabbi Kaduri had been dead for one year. After this time period had passed, the note was opened by these followers and was found to read, בעניין הר"ת של משיח. ירים העם ויוכיח שדברו ותורתו עומדים. באתי על החתום בחודש הרחמים התשס"ה, יצחק כדורי (translated as "Concerning the initials of Mashiach. He will raise the people and confirm that his word and law are standing. I came to that which is signed [or sealed] in the month of Elul, 5765 [2005 CE]"). The initials of the words of the sentence spell the name "Yehoshua". Before his death, Kaduri had surprised his followers by saying that he had already met the Mashiach. He also said that after Sharon Mashiach would come – his followers said that perhaps he meant after the death of Ariel Sharon.[3][4][5]

Someone objected that my edit was speculative and unreliable, but what I added was taken from the "News 1" site, which is apparently reliable.

By the way, several months ago I created an article on Israel Today, but it looks like the birds of prey got to it and ate it without even warning me! Eric Kvaalen (talk) 12:31, 30 March 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Having had no part in recent interchanges, my opinion, for what it's worth, is that its best to keep this last section simple and short to avoid WP:UNDUE, it remains a painful and controversial period. Thanks for inviting me back Eric Kvaalen. I of course agree IT is RS. Cpsoper (talk) 09:56, 1 April 2015 (UTC)[reply]

Recent insertions[edit]

Rebuttals of the genuine provenance of the note have been added, I have included other details from the same source and added one other which appears to differ from the other, which has been circulated widely for 3 years.Cpsoper (talk) 20:53, 2 October 2015 (UTC)[reply]

[1] Appropriate edits have since been made.
Singer makes three distinct assertions, one it is dubious the note alludes to the Messiah, more likely it refers to Joshua bin Nun, second it is a forgery, third it has not been seen by family members. Cpsoper (talk) 19:24, 25 December 2015 (UTC)[reply]
Double reference to forgery needless repetition, 'explicitly' also comes across as unencyclopaedic. The discrepancy with early press reports casts some doubt on accuracy of this report. Cpsoper (talk) 14:35, 1 January 2016 (UTC)[reply]

The Funeral[edit]

In that one article only I read once, quote "His funeral which was held in Jerusalem drew over half a million followers" and furtehr below "An estimated 300,000 people took part in his funeral procession". And in German version I read "An seiner Beerdigung tags darauf nahmen mindestens 200.000 Menschen teil" and in Polish version "100 tysięcy" (100,000). Unfortunately none of those versions refer to any source but discrepances are rather huge. Mcirek (talk) 11:50, 10 January 2019 (UTC)[reply]
