Comments[edit]

Zen do Kai article needs more information. the Zen Do Kai website has the history of the style , but im too lazy to reword it all and reference it. the style actually has some very interesting things to add to this page , such as the crosses/chains given to students of a certain level.

it also exists in the US, someone be sure to do some research about it

For the bit about the belts don't worry about tips. Its different in each club. Also we go up to 10th dan. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 124.197.1.93 (talk) 06:32, 29 November 2007 (UTC)

I and many others involved in this style of martial arts know everything in this article is reasonably accurate. It would be a pity to delete it. I am making a mental note the next time I see some reference material I will update the article to the extent I can. It should not be too hard to get some information on Bob Jones. Does anyone know if articles in sports magazines are acceptable. I would hate to put something in and have it deleted. Mailliwyrrahwollac (talk) 06:23, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

I've added a reference to this article. Any comments or suggestions as to the suitability of what I've done, please email me. Mailliwyrrahwollac (talk) 06:53, 27 January 2008 (UTC)

The references...[edit]

Someone's deleted everything below the section on Bob Jones, and I've tried undoing it, but I can't. —Preceding unsigned comment added by 218.215.202.95 (talk) 22:34, 20 November 2008 (UTC)

  • It was problems with the syntax of the references. Should be ok now.

And speaking of references, looking through google search results [1], I do not find any newspapers or magazines: only blogs, commercial sites, etc. Anyone want to help? The current references are all primary: not enough to justify the articles existence. jmcw (talk) 10:09, 21 November 2008 (UTC)

Belt colours[edit]

I changed the colours to White, Blue, Green, Brown, and Black. When I was doing it many many years ago, those were the colours in proper order. Blue was easily achieved in class, then I went to a formal grading for green. I don't have a source, so I left the citation needed in, but there is no yellow or orange.--61.68.215.53 (talk) 00:41, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Disputed material without a reference is better removed from an encyclopedia article. jmcw (talk) 08:03, 23 April 2009 (UTC)

Total absence of reliable sources.[edit]

The article, as it stands, has zero independent sources. It only cites BJ's own website, and an article by BJ hosted at another ZDK gym's website ("fightrite"). It did attempt to make one meager citation to an Australasian MA magazine ("Blitz"), but the link is dead and so cannot count.

I did my own search for references. Google book search gave only the most passing of mentions (attributing a charity donation from a ZDK group). Searching at Blitz did turn up a single solitary new reference: an interview about ZDK. (Of course, one solitary RS alone should not be enough to base very much of an article on.) Blitz Magazine has no mention on Zen Do Kai [2] or Bob Jones [3]. I will remove the "Lifetime Achievement Award" statement. jmcw (talk) 16:06, 9 December 2013 (UTC)

Hit this by random on a google search ... does this have any relevance? 2001:4CA0:0:F200:9988:7CE:CA7A:DD6A (talk) 17:51, 6 January 2014 (UTC)
