[edit] Overview

Tamama is ranked Private Second Class in the Keron Army's Keroro Platoon.[1] He is the newest member in the planetary invasion troop, and also the youngest. His name stems from the Japanese word otamajakushi "tadpole". While his age is unknown, Etsuko Kozakura has stated that she voiced Tamama as someone who was 19 years old.

[edit] Appearance

Tamama's body color is navy (a very dark blue) in the anime and black in the manga. The symbol on his hat is the green-and-yellow (orange-and-yellow in the manga) Shoshinsha mark, which is used in Japan to designate a new driver (in the ekaki song he says that it is a sign of jealousy), reflecting Tamama's young age, which is also apparent in his tadpole tail. He looks similar to Keroro, Giroro and Dororo/Zeroro in flashbacks of them as children, with similar physical details (i.e. the tadpole tail), also hinting at his young age.

In Episode 22, Tamama ascends in rank after the discharge of Keroro. While in charge of the platoon, he gains a bright purple and gold naval uniform said to be bought from the Argentinian Army/Navy Surplus Store. The naval cap is adorned with the Shoshinsha mark while the suit itself contains no adornment. The uniform also includes white gloves, giving the appearance that Tamama has well-defined fingers. Along with the uniform change, he "promotes" himself to Comrade Führer, combining the ranks of Joseph Stalin and Adolf Hitler.[2]

In the Musha Kero storyline, Tamama takes the rank Ashigaruhei (footsoldier) and wears the same thick body armor and large gloves as Keroro (but in black), along with a wide-brimmed steel hat decorated with a rhinoceros beetle, a tribute of sorts to his one-time opponent. His weapon is a polearm, albeit one that looks like a fork and has some multicolored dango (dumplings) skewered on one end, the short story enclosed with the model reveals that they are real dango that he bakes on the pole.

[edit] Personality

Tamama is possessed of a tendency to have mood swings that border on a split personality, just like his partner Momoka Nishizawa. While usually gentle and cheerful, Tamama can become a vengeful, raving maniac at the drop of a hat.[3] Tamama is also prone to fits of jealousy, usually towards anyone who gets near Keroro (especially Angol Mois, whom he frequently refers to as "that woman").[4] Tamama also has a major farting problem if he drinks cola. He sometimes uses his farts as an attack. He does this by either drinking a lot of cola or sucking up a ton of air and inflating his stomach. On one episode he even uses farts to propel himself underwater while in a sitting position.

[edit] Likes

Tamama likes eating sweets and junk food (especially candy, cake, cola, and potato chips). Surprisingly he also enjoys physical training (he has his own private training room in the Nishizawa Mansion). He also enjoys being jealous.

[edit] Speech mannerisms

Tamama mostly ends his sentences with "desū", which roughly translates to "it is". It is a "cute" phrasing of the common "desu", and is generally dropped when his other personality comes up. He calls Fuyuki, Natsumi, and Momoka, Fu-ki, Na-chi, and Momo-chi respectively.

[edit] Relationships

Tamama idolizes and admires Keroro. His love for Keroro results in his rivalry towards all those in Keroro's love life, especially his hated rival, Angol Mois. He is the friend, and a bit of a pet, of Momoka Nishizawa.[5]

[edit] Abilities

Tamama uses chi attacks fueled by his jealousy. His staple attack, the "Tamama Impact", shoots his jealous energy out of his mouth as a strong beam of energy.[6] Another of his attacks that he says thrives on hate and jealousy is the "Jealousy Ball," which he taught to a young soccer player. He is also very strong and knows karate. He frequently spars against Paul Moryiama only to be beaten or evenly matched.
