Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai is a political party in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. The party was started to garner the votes of Kongu Vellalar, who form more than 15% of the total electorate in Tamil Nadu. The party competes with Kongunadu Munnetra Kazhagam for the same political space.
The Tamil Nadu Kongu Ilaignar Peravai (TNKIP) was floated as forum for the Kongu Vellalar community who form the majority in the western region of Tamil Nadu known as Kongunadu. It was founded on 14 March 2001, which was the first anniversary of the death of Kovai Chezhiyan, a Kongunadu leader and politician. The party is led by U. Thaniyarasu.
For the Tamil Nadu legislative assembly election, 2011, it joined forces with All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhaga and has been allotted one seat. Thaniyarasu won the constituency of Paramathi-Velur as an AIADMK candidate.
