Tammy Layne Winslow Randall is a fictional character from the CBS daytime soap opera Guiding Light. The character is the daughter of Cassie Winslow and ex-husband, Rob Layne. Tammy took her stepfather's last name when he adopted her. Two actresses have portrayed the character since she was introduced to audiences in the summer of 1997. Taking over from Katie Sagona, Stephanie Gatschet entered the show's canvas on a recurring basis from July 2002 to October 2003. During this time, Marah Lewis was the main focus and young heroine, but shortly after Marah was written off the show, Gatschet was put on contract on November 2003 and the character of Tammy became a bigger focus. Her role in the show was beefed up over time, first involving her teenage crush on Edmund. After Tammy grew out of the crush, she set her sights on Joey Lupo. Lizzie Spaulding also developed feelings for Joey, and Tammy and Joey were torn apart as a result. Phillip Spaulding, who had become mad with power, sent Joey Lupo and his mother away from Springfield.

In 2004, crushed by thoughts of her failed relationship with Joey, Tammy became involved with J.B., who was new in town. The standard bad boy, J.B. had been dealing drugs all over Springfield for a couple months. It was soon revealed that it was J.B., and not Sandy Foster, who was Reva's biological son. J.B. was Jonathan Randall, Tammy's half-cousin. In a controversial plot move Jonathan seduced Tammy. Even more shocking, Jonathan fell in love with Tammy. Over time, following an attempt to move on with Sandy Foster, Tammy would grow to love Jonathan just as much as he loved her. In 2007 Tammy married Jonathan Randall. A week later was she was run over in a hit and run meant for her husband. She died in the hospital with Jonathan by her side on January 24, 2007.

Tammy has four half-siblings, a paternal half-sister Laura Layne (Dinah's daughter with Rob), a maternal half-brother R.J. Jessup, an adoptive maternal half-brother Will Winslow and Jonathan would have been her adoptive brother as well as her husband and her maternal half-cousin.

The character's death coincided with the show's 70th anniversary and was meant as a plot device to reaffirm the program's core themes of family and the turmoil of everyday life[citation needed].
