Tarakan is a city in East Kalimantan province of Indonesia. Located on the island with the same name, Tarakan Island, east of the coast of Borneo, the city comprises 250.80 km² with a population of 169,951 as of 2006.[citation needed]
Tarakan has an airport called Juwata Airport.
