Tchamba is a city located in Tchamba Prefecture in the Centrale Region of Togo.

Tchamba is originally a tribe in the present day Ghana.They were known as the Aborigines ( indigenous) of Northern Ghana, covering Tamale, Bim Billa, Tikokonba (known as Konkonba) Nanumba and others. Due to major tribal wars , they had to flee to present day Tchamba in Northern Togo, even though Tchambas were also already there.It is widely spoken in Togo, Ghana, Benin, and Nigeria.They are predominantly Moslems.They have linguistcal affiliations with Konkonba, Bassari. Muata mfo means in Tchamba May God accept our prayers.

Today in Northern Togo The major clans are CONGORO, Lari, Dopo, Samgbe, Lambu Daru Atarrawei, Nantoh, Ninche,Kumateh, and others.The Congoros are the origins there, whereby the Laris among others came.The kingship was originally for the Congoros. Today they are all Tchambas. Some of the major towns in Tchamba are Alibi, Kasaleym, etc.
