The term technology butler was coined to mean a person who is able to help and advise users how to use technology.
It was first used to describe a member of staff in the Ritz-Carlton hotel in Doha whose specific role was to help the business traveller connect their laptop to the Internet, download email and use the in-house phone and TV systems amongst other jobs.
The service became so popular that it was extended to serve any of their guests technical problems and a member of staff was on call 24 hours a day.
Ritz-Carlton now operates this service in all of their hotels worldwide.
