Ted St. Martin

Ted St. Martin is a professional basketball free throw shooter and teacher, and holds the world record for consecutive free throws made 5,221.

Ted St. Martin has held the world record for consecutive free throws since 1972 according to The Guinness Book Of World Records. In 1972 Ted made 200 consecutive free throws officially. AMF Voit, a basketball manufacturer hired Ted to go on the road representing their company doing sporting goods shows, half-times of NBA games, shopping centers etc. During these shows, Ted has officially broken his own world record 15 times.

The current record of 5,221 consecutive free throws was made on April 28, 1996 while giving a shooting clinic to students. The 5,221 in a row took 7 hours and 20 minutes.

Another of St. Martin’s favorite world records is 84 shots made in 8 minutes from 30 feet from the basket. This record was made in February 1974. This was before there was 3 point shooting in basketball, and 30 feet is well beyond today's 3 point line.

Ted and his wife Barbara, have toured the USA and Canada for over 30 years doing all kinds of free throw shooting demonstrations at Sports Shows, Shopping Centers, Auto Dealers, Schools, Half-time Shows of NBA, College , High School, USBL and Continental Basketball League games. They have been involved in many Charity free throw shooting events for such as Make-A-Wish foundation, Cancer Society, Catholic Charities, United Way and various fund raisers for good causes.

The St. Martin's have a nice basketball court in their back yard, where Ted does shooting clinics and guarantees to all his students 90% accuracy from the free throw line.
