TELUS International is a Canadian technology company which provides IT services and multilingual customer service to global clients. Clients include corporations in technology, games, communications & media, eCommerce, fintech, travel & hospitality, healthcare, and automotive industries.

TELUS International made its debut in the public markets on February 3, 2021, dual-listed on the Toronto Stock Exchange and New York Stock Exchange trading under the ticker symbol TIXT.[3] Its parent company, TELUS, has been a foundational part of TELUS International's growth, and TELUS remains a dominant influence as it has a majority economic and voting interest in TELUS International.

Services

TELUS International's services span digital strategy, innovation, consulting and design, digital transformation and IT lifecycle services, data annotation and intelligent automation, among other services.[4]

History and acquisitions

In 2005, TELUS invested in Ambergris Solutions, a BPO company in the Philippines, to offer additional customer service for North America.[5]

In 2007, Ambergris Solutions rebrands to TELUS International.[6]

In 2008, TELUS International invested in Transactel to establish CX centers in Guatemala and El Salvador.[7]

In 2012, TELUS International invested in CallPoint New Europe and expands into Bulgaria and Romania.[8]

In 2014, Callpoint New Europe rebranded to TELUS International.[9] In 2015, Transactel rebranded to TELUS International.[7]

In 2016, Baring Private Equity Asia acquired a 35% stake in TELUS International. TELUS continues to hold the remaining 65%.[10]

In 2017, TELUS International acquired Voxpro Group and expanded locations in the U.S. It also established a presence in Ireland.[11]

In 2018, TELUS International invested in Xavient Digital for their digital and IT solutions portfolio and to enable delivery centers in India.[12]

In 2020, TELUS International acquired Competence Call Center, expanding its European presence.[13]

In 2021, TELUS International acquired Lionbridge AI, adding data annotation to its offerings.[14]

In 2021, TELUS International was listed on the Toronto and New York stock exchanges on February 3 under the ticker TIXT.[4] This listing was the largest-ever tech IPO for the TSX.[15][16]

In 2021, TELUS International acquired Playment to strengthen its data annotation and computer vision capabilities.[17]

TELUS Days of Giving

TELUS Days of Giving is a charitable initiative in which team members volunteer in their local communities.

Since 2007, almost 225,000 TELUS International volunteers have impacted the lives of more than 250,000 people across the globe. Events have included building a community center in Romania,[20] constructing a health clinic in Guatemala, developing a youth center in El Salvador, planting forests in Bulgaria[21] and renovating schools in the Philippines.[22]

Awards and recognition

TELUS International was recognized with an Achievers 50 Most Engaged Workplaces Award[23] and Gold in the Employer of the Year category for Business Services at the Stevie Awards for Great Employers[24] in 2019.

In 2019, the firm was rated a Leader and Star Performer in the Everest Group PEAK Matrix industry assessment, and was the only IT and BPO-classified provider that achieved Leader status.[25] They received this recognition again in 2020. They also received the 2019 Corporate Social Responsibility and Environmental Leadership Award from Frost & Sullivan.[26]

They were also named a 2020 Stevie Winner for Great Employers for its innovative use of HR-related technology and programs to keep employees productive, trained, informed and safe during the COVID-19 pandemic.[27] TELUS International, in collaboration with the green tech scale-up, refurbed, was also recognized at the 2022 Stevie Awards for Sales and Customer Service in the Frontline Customer Service Team of the Year category.[28]

In 2021 The firm won Best Informational Bot Solution as part of the AI Breakthrough Awards for their Agent Assist Chatbot.[29]

In 2022, The firm was named an Excellence in Customer Service Award winner in the Organization of the Year category by Business Intelligence Group.[30] Additionally, for the sixth consecutive year, the firm was named on the IAOP Global Outsourcing 100 list in the Leader category.[31] They were also named on the Forbes list of Best Employers for Diversity at number 256.[32]
