This template indicates that an article incorporates text from the first edition Cyclopaedia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences, which is now in the public domain.

The template can be placed in different locations and depending on the what it is required the parameters can be mixed and matched:

This template is wrapper around {{Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}}. In its default mode it attributes text to an article from the first edition of the Cyclopaedia, or an Universal Dictionary of Arts and Sciences.

This template calls {{Cite Cyclopaedia 1728}} that automatically sets some of the parameters passed for example "publisher = James and John Knapton, et al". Over and above the standard parameter passed into {{cite encyclopaedia}} there are some additional parameters and those are listed below in a separate table from the table of parameters passed into {{cite encyclopedia}}.
