Sam Bailey[edit]

  • ... that Sam Bailey has the nickname 'screwbo', a portmanteau of 'screw' and 'SuBo'?

5x expanded by Launchballer (talk). Self nominated at 21:52, 15 December 2013 (UTC).

Can't we have a hook more along the lines of Alt 1: that X Factor winner Sam Bailey's debut single Skyscraper is released today?, with the hook up on the 18 December. Also, Launchballer, you know that this is not on the nominations page? Thanks, Matty.007 10:47, 16 December 2013 (UTC)

If there is no reply, I will probably move this into the right place so that it can be up when the album is released. Thanks, Matty.007 10:49, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
I chose that hook because this is a UK topic and most UK viewers will probably already know that. I have a bad habit of forgetting step three and letting the bot remind me.--Launchballer 10:52, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Yes, but I can't help feeling that that would get more views. I think it is your choice though. Also, you need to do a QPQ, as you have over 5 credits. Thanks, Matty.007 11:39, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
QPQ:  Done. I'm happy to accept Alt 1 but it would require another reviewer to review that hook.--Launchballer 13:44, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
OK, see what another reviewer says. Thanks, Matty.007 14:07, 16 December 2013 (UTC)
Okay, I'll be the one to say it. This won't make the front page today therefore your proposed hook simply won't work. I would suggest seeing if we can have a hook that we simply change at the last minute, i.e.
ALT2: ... that The X Factor UK winner Sam Bailey, who got the 2013 UK Christmas number one with a cover version of Demi Lovato's "Skyscraper", has the nickname 'screwbo', a portmanteau of 'screw' and 'SuBo'?
Clocks in at 184 characters.--Launchballer 22:55, 18 December 2013 (UTC)
I tweaked the hook to reflect that it is Christmas #1, we need to get this reviewed for Christmas. Thanks, Matty.007 15:33, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Well, I suppose having an article of mine linked to on the front page on Christmas Day would make a good Christmas present. I'll have a word with AnemoneProjectors.--Launchballer 18:43, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
New hook is 199 characters.--Launchballer 19:16, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I was asked to come along and review this - alt2 is good to go :-) If it's a bit too long it can be shortened (e.g. could remove "UK" from "The X Factor UK" as it's not the actual name of the show, or remove "Demi Lovato's"?). It would need quotes around the song title though. –anemoneprojectors– 19:32, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Thank you. Please move to the holding area for Christmas Day.--Launchballer 20:09, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
We're a bit past that now, moving Christmas hooks into Preps, but there is one space in Christmas day hooks, usually for an upbeat or punchy. Not sure if this is, the promoter will decide. Thanks, Matty.007 20:16, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
  • This has a couple of issues right now: first, there's a "fact" template after the name "Samantha" at the very top of the article; this can't be promoted while that remains, so a reliable source citation needs to be found to back that name up. Second, this isn't transcluded on the T:TDYK page anywhere that I could see—certainly not under December 15, where it belongs—so it'll be hard to promote it. I can take care of the second issue, but we can't move it to the special holding area until that's been done. BlueMoonset (talk) 20:33, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
Typing in "Samantha Bailey" into Google chucks up some child actress so I've just removed it.--Launchballer 20:43, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
I was just saying that I've done the same thing - but got an edit conflict! I missed the infobox. I added "X Factor" to my Google search but still didn't find much that was of any use. –anemoneprojectors– 20:48, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
  • Have removed my earlier ? icon since "Samantha" has been removed from the article along with the accompanying fact template. I've also struck the ALT1 hook, since it's no longer accurate. Will move to the Christmas holding area next, since anemoneprojector's approval is once again active. BlueMoonset (talk) 23:53, 23 December 2013 (UTC)
