This template is used to display English International Phonetic Alphabet (IPA). The pronunciation is broken into individual phonemes so that they will have mouseovers to indicate pronunciation (the complete list is available at {{H:IPA}}). All phonemes from IPA for English are available. For anything outside that set, a different template should be used.

If [[unsupported input]] is displayed, it means that an unsupported input or non-existent sound file was used. Such instances are tallied at Category:Ill-formatted IPAc-en transclusions, where they can be reviewed and fixed.

The first three variables can be used to indicate a prescript (eg, English pronunciation:). All available flags are shown at {{IPAc-en/pronunciation}}. The named parameter |audio= may be used to link to an audio file.

Individual phonemes can be translated from SAMPA spelling:

Use a keyboard underscore _ for a space between words.

There are a maximum of 50 variables, including the first three.

Behaviour changes from {{IPA-en}}

The default behaviour has changed to no prescript.
