Template:Cite NSRW
Contents |
[edit] Purpose
This template enables the citation of articles from The New Student's Reference Work in the manner of {{cite encyclopaedia}}. The article title can have a Wikisource link, an arbitrary external link, or no link.
[edit] Usage
{{Cite NSRW|article title}}
or with a specification of the optional display, author, noicon, vb or volume parameters:
{{Cite NSRW|article title|display=author=...|noicon=x|vb=x|volume=...}}
or with a specification of a title not linked to Wikisource:
{{Cite NSRW|title=non-Wikisource article title|author=...|noicon=x|vb=x|volume=...|url=...|accessdate=...}}
[edit] Examples
[edit] Typical
{{Cite NSRW|Schurz, Carl}}
displays as:
"Schurz, Carl". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914.
[edit] Simplest
If the NSRW article name is the same as the Wikipedia article name, the template argument can be omitted. For example, in the Auxanometer article
{{Cite NSRW}}
displays as:
"Auxanometer". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914.
[edit] With comment
{{Cite NSRW|Schurz, Carl}} The most prominent foreign-born citizen of the 19th-century United States.
displays as:
"Schurz, Carl". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914. The most prominent foreign-born citizen of the 19th-century United States.
[edit] display option
The mechanics of Wikisource will sometimes require that a link have disambiguation information which is not part of the original title. The display parameter allows this information to be hidden for the purpose of the citation. For example:
{{Cite NSRW|Madeira (river)|display=Madeira, a river of South America}}
displays as:
"Madeira, a river of South America". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914.
[edit] title option (no Wikisource link)
{{Cite NSRW|title=Tower, Charlemagne}}
displays as:
"Tower, Charlemagne". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914.
When title is being used, url with possibly accessdate can be used to specify an external link. For example:
{{Cite NSRW
|title=Tower, Charlemagne
|volume=4
|url=http://chestofbooks.com/.../pp0239.html
|accessdate=2009-07-31
}} At [http://chestofbooks.com chestofbooks.com].
displays as:
"Tower, Charlemagne". The New Student's Reference Work. 4. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914. http://chestofbooks.com/reference/The-New-Student-s-Reference-Work-Vol4/pp0239.html. Retrieved 2009-07-31. At chestofbooks.com.
[edit] noicon option
{{Cite NSRW|Schurz, Carl|noicon=x}}
displays as:
"Schurz, Carl". The New Student's Reference Work. Chicago: F. E. Compton and Co. 1914.
[edit] vb option
{{Cite NSRW|Schurz, Carl|vb=x}}
displays as:
