Usage[edit]

This icon connected to an automatic category is made to ease the listing of order recipients into appropriate lists of recipients of the concerned orders, by avoiding the need of a regular whole checking of the list of the "Honours" section of a biography, that is, by assigning a listing status to each line of honorific description.

It may be used when a line of honour in the "Honours" section or the mention of a decoration in the text of the biography has been added and no reference exists.

The next steps are :

  • the referencement, then :
  • either mere use of {{ODM-added}} to warn of a referenced mention of order to be listed
  • or to list the decoration of the biographed person and use {{ODM-listed}}

Final step is the checking of the reference and listing by a system of "certified phaleristics-skilled wikipedians" in connection with the Wikipedia:WikiProject Orders, Decorations, and Medals. See {{ODM-checked}}

This categorification icon belongs to an effort to diminish the use of categories in favor of the use of recipients lists.

Syntax
{{ODM-unreferenced|ref=}}
Parameters
  • |ref= – (required) it is a "yes/no" template. If no, the icon and the automatic category. If yes, it adds the template {{Citation needed}} ([citation needed] ) to the icon.

Position
  • One must add it at the head of the description line of the honour, potentially between the asterisk and the "flag instruction" (with ref=no).
  • Or in the reference tag next to the decoration addition. The icon will appear in the references list, then (with ref=no).
  • Or in the reference tag next to the decoration addition. The icon and citation needed sign will appear next to the marked addition (with ref=yes).

In any case, this will create the automatic addition of the category "Category:Order, decoration or medal additions needing a reference" at the bottom of the page.
