Black-headed Honeyeater

The Black-headed Honeyeater is a species of honeyeater endemic to Tasmania. Its natural habitats are temperate forests and Mediterranean-type shrubby vegetation. Despite the name, insects form the bulk of its diet. The Black-headed Honeyeater specialises in foraging among the foliage of trees, unlike the related Strong-billed Honeyeater (the other honeyeater species endemic to Tasmania), which probes the trunks for prey.
